Pocket Water in a Small Creek

This is a very nice video of Gary LaFontaine fishing small pocket water.

"You're making short casts. And your equipment has to be tailored to that casting style. You have a six- to seven-foot leader, tapered 3- or 4X, and generic flies: generic mayflies, generic caddisflies, generic attractors. So that's all sounds pretty easy. But there's a lesson here that everyone should know. Not only the beginner but maybe even the experienced angler should come and refresh his memory on a stream like this."

After my service time (4 years active) I went to collage and obtained a Masters degree in Forestry from UNH but never really worked as a forester other then to process data from other foresters using a program to calculate volume of standing timber. From there I became a self taught programmer in FORTRAN and have worked as a programmer for a manufacturing company then got into tech support now working as a test engineer for a small company that does contract work for Hewlett Packard. Lee's Fishing Page has grown from a simple site hosted by my internet provider to being hosted now by TotalChoiceHosting and being built with Geeklog and its many plugins. LFP is now on glFusion and I believe will be for the rest of time. I hope everyone likes the site and will contribute to it.

Being from Maine I learned pockect water fishing at an early age. This type of fishing can be very productive to Lee. I have fished a few streams here in South Dakota before our dought and I would have a blast because this type of fishing here was mostly over looked. I remember showing a fishing buddy of mine this technique and he was amazed how many fish we were able to catch in this type of water.  Thanks Lee for the video . Brought back some good memories of me an d my fly fishing freind. Dave V
