Remembering Stephen Sprague

Stephen Sprague
We have lost one of our longtime members and I am very sad.  I want to pay tribute to this man, even though I never met Stephen in person I know he was a great person.  I would like to relate some of the things we both had in common and what a great member of this site he was.  I am going to post the obituary that Travis posted on the site and then relate what I thought of Stephen.  Finally I will post a few picture of Stephen and those that he had shared on the site with us.  Hope everyone will read this and comment on Stephen.

Stephen Sprague

1947-2014

Stephen Sprague of Arthurette passed away peacefully at the Upper River Valley Hospital on September 25, 2014.

Stephen was born in Plaster Rock, NB on October 18, 1947. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Elizabeth "Betty" Sprague. Stephen leaves behind his wife Carol Sprague (Somers); his daughters Shannon Sprague of Grand Falls and Tana Sprague of Edmonton, AB; his grandson Travis Bragdon of Arthurette.

Stephen worked as a Fisheries Officer for 27 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

In keeping with Stephen's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service held.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.

Stephen was one of the first to sign up for my site, it was June 5, 2007.  Along with Mike McKinnon and Dave Veilluex  we had a site and several members.  Stephen also used glFusion and had a site called "Atlantic Salmon Anglers" and hosted at Total Choice Hosting as I have done.  I tried my best to keep Stephen site up to date with the software and we both helped each other with our sites.  This was how I got to know Stephen even though I never met him in person.  We would also chat on this site and his with Dave V and had many good conversations.  I really don't think the site will be the same without his humor and sharp wit.  He was always giving someone a little ribbing on the forum and was able to take it back as well as give it.  Dave and Stephen were very close as Dave had the good fortune to meet Stephen and fish with him a short while ago.

He will be missed and would love to see all give a comment to this story and relate what they thought of Stephen.

Here is a flash gallery of photo's from Stephens albums.

After my service time (4 years active) I went to collage and obtained a Masters degree in Forestry from UNH but never really worked as a forester other then to process data from other foresters using a program to calculate volume of standing timber. From there I became a self taught programmer in FORTRAN and have worked as a programmer for a manufacturing company then got into tech support now working as a test engineer for a small company that does contract work for Hewlett Packard. Lee's Fishing Page has grown from a simple site hosted by my internet provider to being hosted now by TotalChoiceHosting and being built with Geeklog and its many plugins. LFP is now on glFusion and I believe will be for the rest of time. I hope everyone likes the site and will contribute to it.
