Now I found out he's young to Lee, That means I won't be able to out run him. I guess I would have to hold back on the Canadian jokes around him . Darn
Ah he's a pretty good shit for a civi. Met him through a fish'n club last year and we fish 2-3 times a year togeather.

Thats pretty cool Mike, I hope he gets to hook into one of those big Atlantic Salmon. I can't wait until the day I can fish for them. To think Stephen lived just across the border from me while I was stationed at Loring. He could have shown me the ropes. An I to would have been hooked for life.

You wouldn't be dissapointed saving your pennies and planning a trip to NB or Quebec Dave. Nova Scotia salmon are fugged!!!
On a different note I was talking to a Fisheries Officer from DFO recently and he said that Maine had some amazing returns of grilse already this year??? Any of you New England guys hear anything about this? I thought the salmon were all but gone in that area.

Not sure what he is talking about but the only river with any number of returns is the Penobscott in Bangor. I am not sure what the numbers are this year. They did have a spring fishing season this year for Atlantics and I think it went well, they caught and released the max they allowed which I think was 50 fish. I will see what I can find for info and post it on the site.

Thanks Lee it would be interesting to know! Would be great to see your rivers coming back I know the State salmon fishermen put alot of time and $$$ into the rivers down there over the past 20 years or so.

Hi Mike
Here is a link to trap counts and the Penobscot looks good at Veazie.
Trap Count Atlantic Salmon in Maine Rivers

WoW
1885 is 4-5 times what we get annually here on the LaHave!!
Good #'s hope the fish keep coming back to Maine!!
Thanks for the info Lee.
I'm just interested in anything salmon

Thanks Lee I guess the Aroostook river is now dead of Atlantic Salmon. There used to be a few coming up the river when I was there in 89
And that would have to be a deep river Dave.
