Mike
I edited the post to make the photo's a little smaller hope you don't mind.
Now Shad are often refrerred to as the POOR MAN's Salmon. Did they jump at all?? I have only caught two in my life and they were both about 18 inches long and good fight. I also have hurd that if they spawn they don't fight as good as they do before the spawn.

P.S. Nice job guy.
Lee Last night was my first time fish'n shad and it was a blast Got some jumps out of them and they put up a good fight but not as good as salmon. I was using the flyrod , my young fella and my buddy were using spinning gear and shad darts.
Mike
What fly did you use for them?? Nice to see you are becoming more diverse in your fishing.

Hey Mike , Looks like a good time. How big were the Shad ? Were you using your 9wt telephone pole ?
Looks like some good water where you were fishing. Do these shad stay in this system or do they migrate to the stream then leave ? Just currious.
Bump
Making sure all see this since I moved it.

Shad were 4-7 lb and yes I had my "trout" rod We were fishing the Annapolis River 5 minutes from my house. The shad run here from early may til early July and yes the spawn then go back to sea.
A buddy took me shad fishing this evening. What a blast on a flyrod
Hope he sends me the pics I'll post 'em!!
