Ordered up my rod and thread to get started on my rod with the weather the way it is i may try some brooks sooner then later ....
What i was disapointed about so far LOL and i havn't even started is there are no commercial Brook Trout rod decals anywhere that i could find and after some research have seen other post that there are none made? so i am in search of something to spice up the rod some .. nothing big but thought it would be cool to have a brookie as a decal may just go with the american flag ? or nothing at all . figure its kit, (few people may have same one) but i want to make it a one of a kind type thing personal prefrence i guess , plan on painting name on it as well . Also gonna see what the handle feels like and may upgrade in that dept, who knows as of now just getting excited to get it and get started ........... Prob gonna have to go cheap on a reel to start see what i can find there as well.
nice koda i have seen them all i think LOL not sure how i will personlize my rod . i guess that decision will come after the rod comes together. i wanted a brooktrout because that will be the fish i target the most with this rod. thanks for looking .
checked out your site looking for reels to match up with it very nice stuff you have there . prob go cheap and upgrade later on .spend some money on line and backing and lighter tippets see how it goes ...
If i enjoy building got plans for some custom jigging rods for some friends
Rod should be here tomorrow then the research begins and slowly gonna piece my rod together , no time limit set , but have 4 days next week to work on it .

i am sure i will photograph the complete process and make a post as i do it for pointers and tips
if it comes out good Koda? LOL
I'm sure you will be awarded a number of Mr Quigglys when it's all said and done Ziggy. Nic did a nice build and the rod came out just great.
I never did a fresh water rod, just salt water because I couldn't find a rod that did what I wanted. And that's understandable. Not many who fish the surf care to cast half a pogy and a 4 oz pyrimid sinker 125 meters out in the foam, and with a Penn Squidder to boot
It was fun building the rods, and I got rods that were tailored to what I was trying to accomplish. It just don't get no better.
I ahve sent e-mails to Bill Thompson (NCA) and have not gotten a thing back, so I need to get up there and check myself.
