Ahem there Zigmister, ya owe us a blood and guts report on the killing fields in VA. Hence, you will catch no bait, you will catch no pike, until, we get every juicy detail of the hunt Mr. Green

And, Dave sez, he'll make it rain. Lord! No mo rain Cry

Nice fish!!!

I started trapping bait this week for the first time to save a little $$$. It's actully been fun. A buddy of mine lives on a pond and he's built a storage pen in his dock to hold the them. He put in an airator so it won't freeze over. Works slick. I've been finding bait in all sizes in some crazy places around where I live in Sandown. Swamps, fire ponds, etc. The bigger shiners in the 6 to 8 inch range for pike seem to be in water that is over 3 feet and has a little current. The other cool thing about setting traps is I've been catching crayfish and big polly wogs. I'm anxious to drop them through the ice this year and see how they produce.

Now if we'd just get a some consitent cold weather down here in southern part of the state I'd be in business. Nothing is even close to being frozen over right now.

I've been using dry dog food. Tonight I'm going to try a dog food can with some holes punched in it. I'm thinking the oils and the smell might draw more fish in.
