Dave, I lived just south of Orvis Headquarters as well as the Battenkill last year prior to moving back to NH. Moved out there for a promotion that took over my life and didn't get to fish much. BUT I did fish the Battenkill a couple of times last fall. A beautiful little river. Managed to fool a few browns and some brookies!

Very nice !!!!!! Looks like a very beautiful area. I have to put that on bucket list for sure.
My mother's boyfriend keeps telling me I have to go to the Battenkill. I have never been there although I didn't grow up too far from that region.
I have fished Doc's pool however with out much luck. It is a no named pool just around the bend from Doc's that has blessed me with fish over and over again.

T-Bone I think you should take that offer up and head to the Battenkill.
I intend to check it out. Apparently it is as you said just south of the Orvis Headquarters in Manchester, VT. My mom's boyfriend has said that although he is not a fly fisherman his father dedicated his life to it and lived in AK, and New Zealand for years because of this passion.
So I might be looking for a compadre on that trip.

By the way did you happen to hear if the floods hit that area as well ?
I am left to assume so since the rivers flooded further north and so did the regions around it. I'm not positive however. I'll see what I can find out.

After watching that TU show . I sure would love to fish that river . Sure is a pretty place.
I had to ask I just watched a Trout Unlimited show . ( On the Rise ) on the sportsman channel a few weeks ago. Have any of you fished the famous stream ? The Battenkill ? If so did you have any luck ? They sure caught some nice browns on the show . I also watched a show and they were fishing the upper Connecticut in Pittsburg New Hampshire (Docs Pool). Both waters have me foaming at the mouth .Dave V
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
