The one river that comes to mind in New Hampshire is the Newfound, that has some big Rainbows in it that time of year. Other then that I have very little to say because I will not be fishing until April. I do fish late into the year over at Sebago Lake for LandLocked Salmon. Have hooked into some pigs over there.

Ziggy I am very fortunate . I am able to fly fish all year long. We have some crazy winters here in western SD . In the middle of Jan-Feb it can be -10 one day and + 40 the next. I have had great success in the winter. Cool thing a few years back a buddy and me went fly fishing and I hooked into a 20 inch plus rainbow broke him off on the edge of the ice along the stream. I did manage to land some nice browns in the 16 inch category . . A few hours later we were on the ice bring in rainbows out of my ice shanty. The thing you will have to remember the guides on your rod will ice up and you have clear them on a continuous bases. I think they make a product to help prevent it but I have never used it. The hatch will consist mainly of midges. Small emergers will work as well. Nymphs are a good bet to. You will have to keep us informed. I can't wait to hear the stories and photos Dave V
Check out this link, Winter fishing in Colorado. May take a little time to come up, but worth it.

Lee,
It's funny you mention the Newfound. I don't winter fish much, but around mid january-February I get cabin fever like you would not believe. It's about this time I take a trip to the newfound. It's the best winter fun I have, and I've only caught a fish once. It's just the thought of not being at work, about not feeling your feet, or you hands, and the about the thought that maybe, just maybe you could catch a trout. It's always small nymphs. The one I actually caught was on a tiny size 18 or 20 brassie as a dropper off a prince. But around March the Newfound can start to be productive. before the water gets high from the lake melting off, Ive caught some nice 20-22"+ rainbows in the March.
