I was thinking the same thing as Nic bud. I would have been thrilled to show you that. It would have been cool to offer soemthing to you in return for the fishing lessons. It was very difficult to learn and sometimes I still get caught up in my materials when I crowd the head, but I'm fairly confident in my ability to do it.
What do people think about tying off.... I mean do you whip finish once or twice? How many spins of the finisher are required for the best hold? I usually do 4-5 rotations with the tool and then whip finish it one more time. Then hit it with cement. As for how well they hold, yesterday was the first time I fishied my own flies and other than the inadequate hook it was flawless in performance.

T Bone its all good LOl yep would have asked you too but it never crosses my mind until i am sitting down in front of my vise 
i was pretty good at doing the finger tie off thing but felt it wasn't strong enough and always had some thread unwind so i would just use more head cemnet lol it works not many of my flies come apart i usually lose them before that

About this part. I'm not entirely sure I got an answer.... Was, "Its all good." in reference to this or something else? I guess I'm nervous my flies won't hold up well enough.
I tend to break off thread alot when I try to whip finish. I'm not sure why exactly. Maybe my wraps around the loop are entangled in materials. that might make it difficult for the loop to slide through and get big enough to release the whip finisher tool, before cinching down. Ya think?

Hey T-bone I usllay only take 3 turns whip on the tool . Tie off and take 3 more for a 2nd whip knot. On hair flies I do the same with 5 turns. Do you use wax ? Now for breaking the thread . You dont have to appiy allot of pressure when tying off. Hang in there it soon will become 2nd nature. Dave V
No I don't use wax. Should I? I thought it was only for applying dubbing to thread, which I do occaisionally.
I tend to push for 5-6 turns of the whip finisher, and do that twice. The problem is that sometimes it binds and I can't get the finishing tool out of the loop. Does that make sense?
It doesn't happen all the time but when it does happen it is something that happens again and again until I have a massive knot for a head.

T-Bone I am going out on the limb here i am going to make a guess try and solve the breaking of the thread with out being there to see it in person. I am going to go by the problem I had when I first started using a whip finishing tool. When making the triangle of thread , Right where the two lines cross by the hook eye I would cross my line and start my turn over the eye. Occasionally I would miss going over the hook and twist another knot where the lines would cross . This would cause the loop over the tool to get tighter with each turn. When I went to pull my line off the tool it would be to tight. If I did manage to get the line off the tool when I went to pull the lines tight the twist would cause the line to snap. Try to duplicate what I tried to explain and see if this causes the line to snap. Then you will be aware of what is happening when you make the mistake, I hope this helped . To be honest it never crossed my mind too much else going on at the time i would have mentioned it ... do you remember what the fly looked like that kype showed us? i would like to tie some of them up with the new tail i got
Yep would make it look like we are just making new friends for each of them but it will be a ploy for some more Man time fishing and tiying 
like it ....... don't forget to mention the feathers to you wife my wife is off all day tomorrow we have to goto manchester tonight but will be free rest of the week.
