A test sample

I finally managed to get out of the house for a day. My fishing buddy Greg and I headed for the

Little Southwest Miramichi atr the unheard of hour of 6 Am. Having been retired a while that is still the

middle of the night for me.

Was a cold, wet and dreary type of day..So cold fingers onlly allowed me two photos..

Was a good day just the same..Strung out the power cord to th trailer. Dipped a few smelts and had a restaurant lunch. Wandered around in a tackle shop for a while. A fair amount of anglers on the river

for black salmon. Additionally everyone expects the sea run trout to be about 2 weeks earlier this year.

Greg and gear

Nice Post Stephen

Where on the Little Southwest was that??  Was it above or below Upper Oxbow (Debbie Norton) where I have fished out of in the past.  How do you do the smelt, little corn meal and fry them.

Thanks

Lee

Hi Lee

That photo was taken just a couple of turns upriver from Dale & Debbies.

As these are the late run of smelts, they are cleaned and soaked in salt water

for about 2 hours. Then dipped in flour and fried in butter in the frying pan.
