Your wish is my command... Water levels here on the Tobique are just above Summer conditions.
As you can see by the photos (taken today) that there is not much ice left. soon the only ice to be found will be in my rye glass.

You guys getting any of the drenching rain we have been here in Maine the last two or three weeks?? Our rivers are way high for this time of year, will definitely slow down early fishing.

We did not get all the rain that that everyone South of us did. Nor do we have any great
amount of snow cover in the woods. I fear the spring melt may be a wimpy affair this year.
Hey Stephen maybe you guys will get some late rains and snow like we usaly do in the Dakotas. East of here the rivers are over there banks. They don't need any rain. We could use a light rain here in the west side of the state. I do hear from folks the hills have allot of snow pack. I wouldnt know sense I have been down and out most of the winter. If this is the case it should be another good year for the fish and the fisherman. Keep us posted I am pulling for you guy's. Dave V
A couple of days and a little rain can make quite a difference.
We still have two weeks until the season opener so as long as we are not inundated by rain I think that the rivers should be fishable. The other thing to keep in mind is that a spring river can drop and clear in a hurry sometimes over night or at least go from unfishable to somewhat fishable. Down here in Oromocto the Saint John river is rising but not too fast so we should be OK this year as far as flooding is concerned. I'd really like to put more time into fishing the SJR as it has some monster muskies and stripers. Ducks and geese have been arriving for about two weeks now. I gotta get my fly rod/ gear out and check things over. Oh ya!! Too many places to fish and too little time.

I went and checked out the Oromocto river last night and it's in flood stage but you can still get to Morrow Bridge so it's not excessively high for this time of year. Went to take some photos and the battery in my new digital camera promptly died. Water was up to the edge of the road and the wife wouldn't stay in the car when I did a three point turn. I'm hearing ducks quacking in the woods behind my house. Because the oromocto river watershed is so prone to flooding the ducks make their nests on higher ground in the woods and then they take their brood down to the river once they hatch. More than once we've had mallards making a nest in the woods across the road and swimming around in the ditch, scaring walkers as they jump into the air quacking as they fly away. I see that French Lake still has some ice in it and I would assume that most of the lakes are still iced in. The ice can go in Big Oromocto lake any time from late march to early May, the longer the ice stays on the lake the better fishing we'll have on opening day.

Hi All
Was wondering what kind of shape the rivers are in up in Canada. New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. How long before ice out? Levels, are they high because of all the rain?? A picture would really be nice to see.
