I have to ask Lee what size reel and what weight rod did you use on the Miramichi for those nice salmon you caught ?

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Dave

I used a 9ft 9wt Reddington Rod and a Cortland 140 Magnum Reel. A 9ft 8wt would be better with the same reel.

Hope that helps.

Dave

That would be a NO. I think a 7wt rod will work just fine.

Dave go to the Links Page and click on Lodges and go to "Upper Oxbow Outdoor Adventures". I highly recommend Debbie and Dale as Hosts, they are first class people. Let me know if I can help if you go.

P.S. I like your photo Avatar, very nice.

Dave

You would have no problem with a 7wt just make sure yah got lots of backing Laughing Out Loud
I fish a 9' 8wt with a Hardy St John reel. Got to love that sound when yah got a fish on.

Hey Thanks for the info, I do have a nice reel (Bauer) Lots of drag and lots of backing. We do plan on making a trip to Canada and this would be one of our stops for sure. We also want to go fish for some of those giant Brookies in Quebec.
