Bill did not fish with us, we just visited with him at his home. Bill does on occasion fish bamboo. The rods that Joel made are really very nice and I tried one and it does cast very nice. Bamboo is really a very special material and not all bamboo rods are the same. The rods that Joel made are first class.

Hi All
Got out yesterday and fished with my buddie Joel. It has been a long time since we fished together and it was nice getting caught up with each other. Things were looking up on Sat that Monday would be a good day to fish, then sunday had to screw it up again. Rain sunday night almost put a damper on our outing. It rained in the mountains on sunday night ( 2 + inches) and had all the river high. Met up with Joel at a little after 8am and we checked out a couple of places, one was very high and not worth trying, the next place was a smaller stream to begin with and was not to bad. I fished a portion above Joel and we both had some luck. I found several runs that had lots of water but they were very fishable and I managed several nice wild brook trout in the 7 inch range. Next we headed back to North Conway and had a pleasent visit with Bill Franke. Bill and Joel had a great conversation about Bamboo rods and I was all ears. Joel showed Bill several rods he has made (bamboo) and they are works of art. After that we decided we needed lunch and made our way to Kringles for a sub. We then decided that another river in the area needed to be checked out. River was high but we decided to fish it anyway and I was very glade we did. Both Joel and I had a ball catching nice wild fish as well as some very nice stocked fish. Between us we must have caught and released at least 20 to 25 fish in about 3 hours of fishing. Some of the stocked fish were as big as 10 to 11 inches, and in that fast water they were a handfull to land. Dumbel me left the camera in the car so no pictures. Take my word for it that these fish were beautiful as they always are. We finished off on a big pool on the Ellis and had no luck there but the day was a success none the less and it was great to get together with Joel again.
