Turkey party on the way to Spring Creek.
Deer party too.
Water levels up in Spring Creek from nohting but a trickle to this
Dave,
Serious fishing will start this weekend for me. We had such a gradual melt of snow and really not that much rain. Things here in Bangor and North to Linocoln-Millinocket look pretty good, streams are running at fishing level. I had to do an estimate today in Presque Isle so it made for a nice easy Friday out of the office. Everything North of Milly was still running hard and high. Bangor got into the very low 60's today--the first for this area and probably even warmer down near lee where at this time it still reads 59. I did happen to dispatch my first mosquito of the year today, thats possibly a good sign. I'm going out towards the GLS area on Sunday, a bunch of ponds near there and will be using the information you and Lee have sent to me. I'll have another few folks with me dunkin worms so either way I hope to get some good pics to add. I will certainly update the area Sunday when I return.

Nice reports you two. Nice pictures Dave. Just got back from Alton Bay and the fishing was OK but I did not do much. Another fellow there landed about 12 fish but they were small 12 to 13 inches and that is small for LL Salmon. I did hook one but lost it but had many rolls and stricks but only that one hookup. It was good to get out.

Went out today myself. The water is very high and cold in Rapid Creek Put it this way our flows for the past 4 months ave 35 CFM right now its at 155 CFM. I did mangage to hook and land 2 browns about 10 inches long and a rainbow 16 inches long. I hooked and lost another rainbow. The guy I went fishing with landed a nice fat 16 inch brown. There were lots of folks out and we were the only ones that landed any fish. It was raining and cold. Oh ya I went to Pactola lake first and did mangae to sppok off a few nice pike not 4 feet like one guy told us they were but about 21/2 - 3 feet. They were cruzing and looked like a couple were close to spawning.
Good to hear you out and about on the water Lee won't be long you will be hiking them streams. Dave V
How much longer before you guy's up north start gettting into some serious fishing ? The weather here has delayed our fishing here by about three weeks. I am not complaining because all this rain has flushed the silt and muck off the bottom of our streams and for that I thank the Man up above.
I have heard reports that pike over four feet long are being caught in Pactola Lake. I am going to test that water Sunday. According to several people I have talked to and seen one picture the pike are coming into spawn and if you sit up high on the rocks you can see pike over four feet cruzing the shallows. The shallows these fish are swimming in havent seen water in about ten years. Pike have only been in Pactola Lake only about 11 years. They think that is. A couple of fisherman thought the all trout salmon lake needed pike and bass and illigaly introduced them to the lake from the reports I am getting they must be doing well.
I hear Brook Trout fishing is doing very well on Castle Creek a stream about 45 minutes from here and another 2 1/2 mile walk in to the stream. Great news for the fly fisherman around here Spring Creek is running full to the gills with water and they have reintroduced Browns of all sizes and Rainbows to. This will take a ton of pressure of Rapid Creek and will give the over fished stream a much needed break. Antother Amen to the Man upstairs.
The insect report small midges and a few samll mayflies are coming off the water , but do to fast and high water the hatches are not that plentiful. Warmer weather next week temps going to be in the 70's should change that.. Cool thing is I am on vacation
Well that is my little report. I would be intrested in your fishing reports I hope to hear about your local waters . let me know how things are shaping up , Off to scope out the streams pictures to come. Until then happy posting and tight lines Dave V
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
