Good evening all,

First of all I want to thank Lee and all other members of this site for putting together such a great place to find and link into information. In the begining of March I started to poke around on the web looking for fly fishing information. I'm from Bangor, Maine and grew up fishing for brookies with night crawlers I picked the night before with flashlight in hand. I still carry on this tradition yet I need a new challenge and fy fishing is it. I'm very much in the learning process....have basic gear, good collection of flies, and love fishing for trout. I never knew how much technique was involved......presentation, matching the hatch, roll cast, leader-tippet combination ect. AHAHAHA. I hope that I can pry information from you folks and as time goes on I hope to post pictures with the results from your information. Thanks again everybody talk to you soon.
Scott

Welcom Scott, you'll like it here, a good group from far and wide. I've passed thru Bangor on my way to Grand Lake Stream only long enough to refuel.

Hey Scott glad to see you on site. I grew up in Winslow just down 95 from you. I think you will like the site allot. You dont have to pry information from us. We will gladly give it up freely. Fire away with any questions you have and we will jump at the chance to help you out in any way possible . I love pictures so I can't wait to see yours. So where do you do most of your fishing ? I am sure Lee would love to hook up with you and fish morning to night. Well good to see you on Scott . Take care Dave V

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

caddisfly4,

Gald to hear someone speak of Grand Lake Stream. Grand lake Stream is awesome. I never have fly fished the stream but go there a lot and watch the folks going for salmon. According to the Bangor Daily News they had a big turn out on April 1st. One of the best things about the area is the Pine Tree Store. You have to love any store next to a river with good food, good fishing advise and a golden retriver to greet you each visit. We usually go camping at least four times a year about 15 miles south of the Stream at Third Machias Lake. Big Memorial day weekend filled with lots of fishing, horse shoes and family fun.

Went out this morning with the dog for a few hours, no luck. Big peat moss bog off the beatin path....just the way I like it. Came out and ran into the Warden and he said nobody was really catching anything yet. Just a little more time. About two weeks before things become consistent I think.

Dave,

I had noticed you were from Winslow and had hopes of moving back east. Great time to do it, market is flooded with homes and great prices. Plus I could hook you up with a good moving price, I work for a National company!

Most of my fishing takes place in and around Hancock-Washington county. There is a major dirt road system owned by the paper company called the Stud-Mill road that runs pretty much from Old Town to Route 1 North of Calais. I've explored the many networks of roads and streams and have found some awesome spots. I figure when I follow a stream and stop finding beer bottles and worm containers I'm getting into the better fishing spots. Not many folks venture far from a vehicle, I'll go as far as it takes.

Another area of Maine I love is Kathadin Iron Works, North of Brownville Junction. Cold crystal clear streams and great brookie action.

Thanks for the warm welcoming and I'll try and post some old pictures of early April fishing.

Hi Scott
Welcome aboard...The members here are a friendly bunch as you
have likely already observed. I live on the Tobique River in New
Brunswick and fish the Miramichi for salmon. Some of us tie flies
and some just fish. But, we all seem to have similar interests and
varying degrees of expertise.
If we can help in any way just post on the board. Most of all, Make
yourself at home here and enjoy.

Happy Fishing and Tying

Sorry to be so late with a welcome but welcome Scott. Busy weekend and I have not been on at all until now. Again welcome and do post questions and info for all us.

One question, on your album you have the same picture twice do you want one removed, go to manage media and you can delete the dup picture.

Hi Scott

One question for you. I saw last night you had created an album for yourself and had two pictures in it. Then later in the night it was gone, did you accidently delete it. If so please create another album and when you upload photo's then have to be moderated by me or Dave V to show in your album, so that is why they don't show right away. Let me know if you are having any problems with the photo albums.

Glad to make your acquaintance Scott, as the user name indicates my name's Bill Gass and I grew up in McAdam, NB about ten minutes from the border. There's not alot of us on here but you'll find us a friendy bunch willing to share information. I mostly fish southwestern NB, for landlocks, trout and bass with a few trips to the Miramichi every year. Something new that I tried last year was muskie fishing on the Saint John river and we managed to catch a 36 inch muskie on the first trip, just a small one, pretty sure there are some pics on my album. So welcome aboard.

Bill G.

PS - feel free to make fun of Dave V. as much as you want, lol. (that should get things stirred up a bit)
