Sorry folks no pictures. I did get out and fish Rapid Creek today and I had a blast. I wasn't sure that the fishing was going to be any good but I had to give it a shot. I have learned from a local fly shop a new fly. So I tied a few up this morning and I set out to give them a try. The skies were clear the wind was howling go figure !!!!!. Today I didn't let this stop me. I was bound and determined . I did not want another off day to stop me from going fishing. I was going hell or high water. So after I finished a few of these new flies I loaded the truck and set forth. As I drove down the road I noticed the leaveless trees swaying in the wind . I looked up into the cloudless sky and cussed just a little. Dang it I said why is the wind always blowing and the skies clear blue when I have a day off from work ? I then said thats alright I am not going to give in I am going to have a good day fishing no mattter what. Well as I apporoached the dirt road turn off I could look over the entire stream and guess what ? Only one car was parked along the road to the water. Things were looking up. As I got a little closer to the car I noticed the guy was hunting ducks not fishing. I love the fall just for that reason. I stopped close to my favorite stretch off water and geared up. I tied my new fly on my 6x tippet and set forth to the waters edge slowly so not to spook any of the fish. With the wind howling the fish really couldnt see me. This made my chances just a bit better . The clear skies were not going to be as much of a factor I once thought. So I stripped out some line and made a cast into the currents edge. I saw a quick flash and I was hooked up . Just like that I landed my first fish. A rainbow 16 inches and fat as could be. I was extreamly thrilled. Proud as could be. So I worked my way just a little bit furthur down the bank. I cast my new fly and as the line started to straighten in the drift another quick flash and again I was hooked to another nice fish. Wow another nice rainbow 17 inches and full of color. I then in my head thanked Hauns the person at my fly shop showing a new secret fly to tie. I was shocked at the ease I was catching these beautiful fish. I then cast out into the stream and was quickley greeted by a lttlie brown . Although this wasnt a big fish I was happy to see the young brown. I caught several more small browns . This was proof to me that the high water levels this year has turned a threatend fish from being lost in our streams to good numbers for next spring. Things are going to be great next year if we get any moisture this winter. From the looks of the forcast next week we are going to get rain and snow. Every drop helps. Well that was my fishing day and I had a blast. Sorry for no pictures but I had made up my mind when I left home the camera was staying home so not to jinks my fishing outting It worked Big Grin .

Well done young man!!! Now you have to give up what this new fly is. Take a picture and post it for us. I am hopeful I will get out at least one more time to Sebago Lake Station, if I do I will report it.

I think I might try the afternoon hatch before weather changes tonight. Looking fwd to your report . I hear there were a few Atlantic Salmon in the Waterville area this year. 6-7 I believe Great news for the Kennebec River.
