Lee, a friend of mine uses them trolling for LL Salmon. I had Bill as an instructor many years ago when I took a weekend long flyfishing class at North Country Angler when Dick Stuart owned it at the old location. Good guy.

Caddis - Bill Franke is as nice as they come and he is a fine rod maker as well as a great mechinist, I have a little Pflueger he sold me after he retrofitted it and it is the purfect little reel.
Thanks for the comments Caddis.

Yup I got one of them reels also. Used it for trolling for LL Salmon when I was in Maine. Still have it its like brand new. If I remember right it has a sinking line on it already for trolling. My dad still has his I believe if I remember right dosent look so new. Dave V
I bought my father one for a gift nearly 40 years ago. Unfortunately
it did not find it's way back to me upon his death. But I did buy one
with line, backing and leader for $5.00 a few years ago. The lad wanted
to know if it was worth putting in a yard sale...So I took it off his hands.
Along with a Salt water trolling reel and rod for another &10.00
My pfleuger is used as a spare now. But would not hesitate for a moment to use it. They are a trustworthy reel and have landed many a fine salmon.
Hi Guys and Gals(if there are any)

I was wondering last night how many of you use old Pflueger reels when fishing for Atlantic Salmon. I know at one time this was one of the most used reels for Atlantic's. I have a friend who makes replacement parts for the old Pflueger's that make these reels really nice piecies to use again. Here a link to his web site One-Pfoot for Plueger Medalists Reels. Let me know what you think and I will say that Bill Franke is one of the best Atlantic Salmon Fisherman in the world and a good friend to boot.
Thanks
Lee
