Was just down to South Portland, Maine last weekend and stayed at the Courtyard Marriot. Put in over 12 hours of shopping at Cabela's on Friday and Saturday. Made I don't know how many trips around the store and saw something different every time. The women even shopped there for a few hours and admitted that it was a pretty nice store with something for everyone. Really enjoyed all the mounted game animals and the aquarium. Got a new set of neoprene waders for hunting. I had my copy of the 2008 waterfowl catalogue bookmarked pages of all the things that I wanted to get, with a list inside the front cover. I can't say enough good things about the employees. More than one said to me that customer satisafaction was their number one priority. Items that were on sale that had been sold out were replaced by similer priced items and discounted to the sale price. Having been to other sporting goods stores where customer service was slim to nonexistant it was very refreshing to say the least. The young fella in the clothing department even had tips on how to get the authorization to buy all the hunting/camo clothing you want. He said that all you have to do is get you 'significant other' to come in and try some camo clothing on you start telling her how that camo pattern looks so good on her and makes her look slimmer. Before you know it she'll get into the sport and be alot more understanding when the visa bill comes in. When I was sitting outside the store just about sunset waiting for one of our party to come out, the lights were shining on the moose statue and the store front was all lit up, I turned to my nephew and said that Cabela's at sunset was almost like a religious experience. We had a good laugh. We also stopped at LL Beans for an hour on the way home, so we just scratched the surface there, the women want to stay in Freeport the next time that we go down.

Went out to Sturgis in 2006 and on the way home we stopped at the one in Mitchell, SD. Would have liked to spend more time. Only 2 1/2 hrs from the one in Maine, I'll have to make the drive someday soon.

Mr Caddis did you do the Sturgis thing. We have one in Rapid now only 10 min away.

Yes I went out two years ago with my wife and a co/worker and his wife. We stayed down in Custer, SD. Met up with two other guys that work or worked with us and their wives and went to Deadwood and Sturgis one day at each spot. The rest of the time was spent doing rides out to places like Devil's Tower, Mount Rushmore and Crazyhorse. Beautiful country out there.

Dave

We are supposed to get rain all weekend with TS Kyle making landfall in SW NB on Sunday. OK OK I know waaa we're getting next to nothing compared to southern US states when a big one blows in. But I was planning to go scouting for ducks on the SJR this weekend in my boat opening day is on 01 Oct. Now I'm down to electronic scouting (AKA begging for info on the net) and driving around in my car with the binoculars. Should have bought a rain coar when I was at Cabelas.
