Hey Dave is Memorial Day in the US like Rememberance Day here in Canada??? I ask cause I don't know
....and I'm curious

I would have have to say yes Mike. In the US its a day to remember those who passed away especially to those who lost their lives in battle. Thats the true meaning anyway . Seams like to some people all it means its a day off from work and a day to go camping and BBQ's . To some it marks the opening day to Yard and Garage sales, The true meaning is honoring our dead and our heros who gave their lives in the call of duty..

Yes that is the same as our Rememberance Day on November 11th. Thanks for the answer Dave

Now Nov 11th is Veterans Day for us thanking all who servre in the Military.
Mike
I just looked at a calendar and it shows "Victoria Day" for Canada on May 19th, what is this day may be the same as our "Memorial Day" and "Remembrance Day" is the same as our "Veterans Day".
Hope this helps.
Lee
Victoria's Day ? , Lee would this refer to Queen Victoria ? Little help from the folks north of the border
Dave V
Victoria Day is the celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday Lee. Why?? Who knows??? I guess its like Presidents Day in the US. Rememberance Day is a national holiday commemorating all of our war dead from all wars. A moment of silence is alway followed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. This is when the armistest was signed at the end of the Great War in 1918.
THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD AS WE
THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD;
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM NOR
THE YEARS CONDEMN.
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN
AND IN THE MORNING,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
LEST WE FORGET
There was a Memorial Day cerimony held in Halifax on Monday. It was at the US Military Cemetary on Dead Mans Island. The US POW that died were buried there during the War of 1812.

Mike You mean I was right about Queen Victoria ? Dang I'm good.
You were correct. We always called it May 24 weekend cause there was always many 24's of beer going down range

Just wanted to wish you all a Safe and Good Memorial Day. .

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
