Hi I have a sage TCR that has light corrosion on a few guides. Any idea as to how I can clean this up? Maybe some miracle solution or tool? Thanks

Hey Freddybeach123, I am sure that Greatbay (DaveG) will be able to answer that question if none of us can. He has his own rod build company I am sure he would be the one to ask. I would think a fine brass wire brush would work then coat it with a wax . But lets see what Greatbay has to say. He did a how to on rod maintenence you might want to look in there. You could also send him a PM for your answer . Good question by the way.

If all else fails, as a last resort try rubbing the guide with tin foil.
It works on chrome bicycle parts.

Freddy,
Where is the corrosion on the guides? Sometimes a piece of fine steel wool can be used to remove the corrosion.
I'm not familiar with TCR guides but they sound like they are TiCh plated guides. One thing you don't want to do is remove the finish, so be careful.
This finish does not do well in the salt and like Dave V. said once or twice a year an application of pledge does wonders.
NEVER put the rod into it's tube wet, and if you do clean the guides with soap and water be sure to thoroughly dry the rod.

Once you've gotten the corrosion off, take a cotton ball and feed it through the guides and see if any of the cotton sticks to the guide. This may indicate a rough spot that needs some work or it could damage your line as it's going through.

Hope this helps!

Hey Freddy , have you contacted Sage ? You might be covered under warrenty . You might have to pay for shipping but they could replace the guides. Just a thought. Dave V

Yes but I am not the original owner. They say salt water was the problem but with some light use of emery pad it should fix the 1 guide with the corossion. Thanks everyone time for bed. Thanks again
