What is the largest Atlantic Salmon you have caught on a flyrod ?

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Hi Dave
The largest I have ever landed was about 25 pounds..I must
add that it was nearly 25 years ago... The wife's largest was
16 pounds.. I was hard pressed the day she caught hers. The
best I could do that day was a 12 pounder.
There are still large fish in the Restigouche system and fish
there over 30 pounds are not uncommon. The Miramichi system
tends to have smaller fish with the average salmon (not grilse)
being about 8 pounds...But there is always the chance of hooking
a larger fish..Especially in the Fall run.
For the last few years in New Brunswick we have had to release all salmon over 24 inches. It is a conservation measure to ensure
sufficient spawning escapment of the adult females.

Dave

Good question!! My best is 40 Inches and about 18 lbs. (spring Fish on the Miramichi). The best hooked was about 48 Inches (northwest Miramichi) but I did not land him. He would have wade about 22 to 25 lbs. (again a spring fish). When I get a chance I will post the Picture of the one I caught.
