Nicely done Keith . Good to see you getting out . Post a photo of your deadly fly one of these days .
Ahhhh I see . WDH equals Wood Duck Heron . Where was my brain at .Yes very effective patterns . Went through all mine need to learn how to tie them up proper .
So the wife is away at work on most Mondays now so I took advantage of a nice evening and the free pass to go hit a local pond that up to this point had been a diappointment this season. When I got there I had the place to myself and fish were rising all over the lake. I tied on a dry that I use almost exclusively at this lake and headed out for the area with the most activity. In no time they were hitting the fly but everything was short, tried skittering and about every other trick in the book but no hook ups. So I switched to the classic WDH, next cast...Whammo! A pudgy little rainbow, followed by many more, most in the 16-18" range.
i was also treated to a beautiful sunset as I wrapped up a night of very fun fishing.
