Mark and I headed out early this morning to French Pond,  I have never had much luck at this place but we figured it was close and as good a place to start as any.  The morning started slow, with fish rising everywhere but taking very light.  We each managed one or two trout, and I got into a patch of  sunnies.

Then just as I was about to leave the fish turned on I then started catching  nice trout on every other cast.  Ended the day up about 50 or so fish.   Good day

Well done . Love them Brookies . What did you catch them on ?

Nothing on the top for you ? Were there any rising fish ?

They were rising but the sunfish were beating the trout to the fly about 10:1, if I went subsurface and bigger I got trout about 20:1.   On the surface they were taking a black/green midge size 16 or smaller, only one fish on a nymph.

I had a couple of hours to kill today so I headed back to French Pond, started nailing nice bows right off, I caught four just paddling to the other shore where I was having all the luck the day before.  That spot did not disappoint I was again catching a trout on about every third cast, mostly bows today, not sure where all the brookies went.   The wind started to pick up so I started the long paddle back against the wind, occasionally being interrupted by a hard hitting rainbow or five.  I had some spectacular jumps today, one cleared the water by a good three feet, and despite going barbless I only lost one.

now to buckle down and get back to work.
