What a great read and the pictures are great. Looks like I need to tag along with you the next time you go out. Also I would love to have you post the pictures in an album and do a story for the home page. Not hard to do. Let me know and I will help.

Thanks guys!
My brother is coming down from maine for the weekend, hopefully we'll be able to get away for a bit and catch a few.
I was just looking at the area you hail from on google maps, and man it looks like a mecca for wild brookies. There are ons of small lakes and ponds triclking off into brooks and rivers. I'm going to hav to get a topo map and give that area an extensive visit one of these days. I'm thinking of disapearing into te waterville valley area this weekend for a bit.
I'm just hoping the rain hasn't washed away my opportunities.

The rain has only made things better my friend! The fish have been very active with the cool water being brought from these weeklong rain storms.
Check out this site T_Bone, best topo map I have found yet. Its a good way to get lost at your computer for hours.
Friday I had the day off and planned to spend the day up in the white mountains bouncing around from stream to stream. Turns out the fishing was so good I never bothered the leave the first location!

I arrived at about 6 a.m. and quickly got geared up with a dry/nymph combo and walked upstream a bit. Today I would be fishing again with my 3wt fiberglass rod, couldn't wait because this rod is so much fun
Wasn't long before I was into multiple fish and I just had that feeling that this was going to be a good day.
Most of the fish were taken 50/50 dry/nymph with lots of aggressive surface action achieved by skittering the dry across the tail outs of runs. Some were almost jumping out of the water!
Deep pools and runs often produced multiple fish.
Sometimes even two at once!
Lots of subsurface bugs to be found, both big and small.
If you are fishing just dries I think you are missing out on a lot of fish!
I wandered over a mile up this stream running into pool after pool just filled with fish, I didn't want to come home thats for sure. All fish ranged in size from 4-9 inches, I lost the biggest bruiser and I was quite mad after I saw it and then lost it right before getting it into the net. It had my rod completely taco'd over and It had to be pushing at least a foot, next time buddy.....next time
I did manage to land quite a few lookers though, some had some amazing colors.
It was here I turned around and headed back down stream, it was 4 p.m. and I was satisfied for today, a very good day indeed.
As I stumbled out of the woods nearly an hour later covered in sweat and bits of leaves and sticks I was greated by the site of Natefish getting ready to guide a couple clients. We said our hello's and while I ate a sandwich I saw the young fella Nate was with hook a fish, outstanding!
And todays two flies I used all day. The dry is my horrible attempt at a small stimulator but the fish liked it, and the nymph was tied about 15 inches behind the dry, just a basic pheasant tail that no longer was looking so hot. Got eaten a few dozen too many times, time to tie up some more!
The fishing is hot right now....get out there!!!!
