It has begun. Can't wait for everybody's fishing reports
Brad
Where were you fishing today, was it Alton Bay?? If so I was there on the docks.
I did nothing myself, but saw one salmon caught and a Rainbow jump out in the open water.

Lee
Nah Lee, I was much closer to home. Was fishing the outlet channel at Horn Pond, you probably drove right by it and me.
Wish I had known you were up in Alton Lee, I would have stopped by. I was down at the end of the lake in Tilton, fishing the river.
It was just me and about 60 other anglers on that quarter mile stretch.
I talked to one guy who landed four, one nice one and all before 6am. After that it was dead, too much commotion in the water I suspect. I did manage a couple of bumps but the fish were very weary.
I ended up heading back to Henniker and had a rough day. Water was too high (must have openned the dam up stream) then I had to bushwack to get back to my truck and lost my fly box (went back and found it). I called it quits and went home to work on my boo rod. Event that went rough. I was building my dip tube and cutting out a mounting block for it and the damn table saw decided to chuck the wood at my belly (very cool bruise).
Hornberg,
Those are Early stone fly's and are usually the first of the "hatch" fly's you will see in the spring. Have had luck fishing the Nymph but not easy getting early season dry action till water temps come up a bit. Good to see you hooked a fish for the effort!
Tight lines.
Ian
Thanks Ian, thats good to know. I've tied up a good supply of pheasant tail nymphs in a few sizes and I also have some dark EHC that I also made up that look just like these, will try this spot again soon. I'll be out trolling Winni this sunday, hoping for a big one!
Picked up a nice one 150 feet from shore off the wolfeborro docks right on the ice/open water line. Taken on a #6 white hornberg with floating line/leader and couple split shot 18" from the fly. Both times I have gone out its only been one fish, still pretty slow. Got some good sized bright pink fillets off this guy.
Hornberg
Great job young man, I hope to try Alton Bay again today in the afternoon.

Lee
Thanks Lee, its always my goal to get at least one salmon every year out of winni. This year I've got two so things are looking up!
Spent a good afternoon trolling what little open water there was out there. Was fishing two rods, my spinning rod with a lure and my fly rod had a weighted black wooly bugger on it. Got one small trout right off that bat but was very skinny and small, let him go, after that nothing, not even a bump. When the sun it the water it did however trigger a nice hatch of what I assume are black caddis? They were all over the water skittering along! I got all excited thinking I could play around with my fly rod but I saw no rises or action of any kind. Took a picture of him, he sat on my hand for a bout 3 minutes not moving until he decided to fly away. I would say he was about 3/4 of an inch long.
