Thanks Lee I have used Orvis for a long time . Also have used Rio . Was thinking of trying some fluorocarbon. Anybody ever use the stuff ?
In the world of trout, visible leaders are a no no. Fluro carbon since the day it came out and never looked back. It really does disappear in the water!

But that fluro is pricey
I use the Orvis stuff exclusively these days.
If the water is really clear and the fish are being real fussasses then I use the Fluoro otherwise the superstrong mono works just fine.
The fluoro is also a bit stronger when you get down to the 7 and 8x sizes.
I've used the Maxima but found it to be a bit stiff and the Rio just breaks on its own accord. I've heard good stuff about the Stroft tippets but I have not tried them yet.

Not really Dave. For a fun project, get 3 spools of fluro from Wally and tie your own. Say 17 pound test to 10, to 8, and then your final line size.
I buy the vanish for my nymph leaders, and if i want to go fancy i go with rio.
Wow I gues I am the troglodyte among the group I use simple inexpensive corltland mono tippets from walmart and I really like the climax tapered leaders I buy at Walmart for 1.98 or so.
I bought a spool of flurocarbon tippet once and never really noticed a significant difference, though to be fair I never caught a fish on a nymph so that may be the reason.
Maybe I ought to buy another and try that again this season.

Just curious as to what tippet every one uses So many brands out there claim to be the strongest so I thought I would throw out the ?
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
