Six foot, 5 1/2 ounces, rod reel, backing and fly line, and just a terror on the water Big Grin  Was in the groove tonight, 60 to 70 foot casts. Couldn't see the fly, so I struck when I saw the splash Mr. Green

Sounds like a great set up or small streams and beaver ponds. Nice looking net as well

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

For the most part it is. Distance is not the mandate on the small streams and brooks, but sometimes you can get a lane on a beaver pond to do some long distance work.

I don't like a long rod for beating the brush for the obvious reason. But often times I'd like a longer rod for clearing the cat tails on the back cast. Otherwise, you have to tip the casting plane to stay out of the pucker brush. Mr. Green

First of all, NICE!   Second I so want to build that 1wt  (what line are you running?)

and last but not least that picture of the brookie in the net needs a caption:  "OH NO! It's Koda!"

That "Bow" in the net does look like he was saying something, so I took your advice an added a caption Big Grin

1 WT lines are a bitch to find, and expensive.  For the most part it's a Sage or Orvis event.  I can get my suppliers to come up with some wonderful 2 weight lines, but their nads shrivel right up when I ask em about 1 weights.

I don't like Orvis. Lot of folks don't these days. But, my Pa didn't raise no fool either. They had the WF1F lines on sale during the Winter and I grabbed a couple. Of course some cat charmed me out of one so I have the one on the reel and that's it. Sad

If you locate another source let me know. Hooking beavers is bound to put a premature end to the little lineLaughing Out Loud

Koda,

I was looking at the Rio LT lines, they come in 1wt and even sub 1wt (down to 000F).  Depending on the stiffness and action of the finished rod I may choose to over or underline and this selection gives me the best options thus far.  They are running about $65 retail but I have seen them on e-bay selling for about $45.

I have the Rio Trout line on my Sage 5wt and I love that line for launching bugs down river in the spring.  The presentation for drys is not as nice as my Wulff line but with the right tippet it works just fine.   Now if we could convince Wulff to make a 1wt TT line I would be all over that!

Are you working that? There is a solid market for UL fly lines, why let Sage and Orvis have it alone Thumbup
