Sunday morning my  buddy Chris and I fished a pond that holds wild Kennebago strain brookies. We managed to boat 4 before the sun became too bright. We had doubles on the last hook up and I was able to get both of them in the net for a pic. These guys fight like crazy and are very difficulte to hold on too and photograph. I had to lip one of them to hold him still. Check out the hump on the first pic.

Awesome!

Does anyone have any suggestions on a cheap overnighter for a weekend of fishing up there?  Campsites, or hotels or anything?

Does that area turn off in the heat of the summer or does it stay pretty cold and active through it all, like Pittsburgh?

I would like to spend some quality time over there with my brother some day.  A cabin rental would be the bomb for a week, but my wife would never go for it, and I probably wouldn't be able to afford it anyways but none the less it is a nice dream.  Someday....

Theron,

There are several campgrounds. Cupsuptic Lake Campgound cupsupticcampground.com/ would be my first choice. They have some remote sites that will put you closer to some back country fishing options and the Kennebago River. Then there is Black Cove www.blackbrookcove.com/ which is closer to the NH border and closer to Upper Dam and the Magalloway River. (Not to be confused with the Magalloway in Pittsburg, NH).

There are rooms to rent in Rangeley. Town and Lake Motel rangeleytownandlake.com/ and the Saddleback Inn www.rangeleysaddlebackinn.com/.

I would wait till fall to invest the money and time to go up there. Fish are around but things slow way down in the heat of summer. The season ends on the last day of September for most of the waters up there not into October like NH. When your ready to go let's talk and I'll give you some intel. I usually go up the end of September and maybe we can get together.

Paul-

Hey Paul nice looking Brook trout . Love that neck of the woods . Beautiful country

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
