Well to begin with to say this is a fishing trip would be a liberal definintion of the phrase.  Once a year I get together with two old friend to fish on Lake Sebago for LL Salmon.  As my friend Joe describes it, "sometimes a fish gets in the way of our fishing".

So the day started out warm without a cloud in the sky and not a hint of breeze, making the lake like a giant smooth piece of glass.  Just what you do not want for salmon fishing.   We would be trolling Grey Ghosts and Kennibec minnows for flys on heavy sinking lines.   After making a circle around Jordan Bay with no luck we headed out to fish the southeatern shore opposite Frye Island.  As we crossed in front of the canal to the lower pond we got our first fish on, a barely legal samon.   Shortly after that we spotted a rise just off the bow and as I looked over the edge I saw the largest laker I have ever seen, sipping flies.  He wanted nothing to do with us or the flies we were trolling however.

As we rounded the point we were joined by the local F&G patrol, who checked us out and quized us about our luck thus far.  Apparently we were the last boat on the lake to be checked and the only boat on the lake that caught anything.  (at least we had that going for us)

About an hour later we landed the second salmon of the day, another just barely legal fish.   The rest of the day was a pleasent tour of the lake with only the occasional hit, with nothing landed.

As you can see from the photos, we had a great time; despite the fish interupting our fishing.

Keith

Love the pictures, been a long time since I fished out on Sebago, usually fish the Station at the southern most area of the lake in the fall from shore, but not on the lake for a long time.  I like the way that camera performs, those are great pictures.  I fixed up the post so the pictures don't over run the page.  Was easyHELP !!!!!!, go here to see how to post external pictures so you can size them to fit the screen.  I use 600 pixels wide and they then fill the post area but don't overrun the screen.

How fast a trolling speed were you using??  For Salmon it needs to be fairly fast.  Also you may not need to be as deep as you were, those fish will be near the top for awhile in the spring.

Great report, keep them coming.

See Yah
Thanks
Lee

Thanks Lee, I am on several message boards and I can never keep the picture posting thing straight from one to the other.

We were trolling as slow as we could go, which was a bit faster than most on the lake.  We also had lines out at multiple depths and only got hits on the deepest.  I think that because of the very calm water and cloudless sky the salmon were hanging a bit deeper and along the edges of the ledges.  The F&G officer said that earlier in the week with all the cloud cover there was a lot more action, including some good sized fish.
