No offense taken by your post Buddy. The other one in question has been pricking my balls clear back to the dark forum. I've already given Lee a heads up on the situation. As Cross Otter once said, men without balls Big Grin

There was another motherin monster like that a while back. Kid took it out with a 22 Hornet! If I remember it, it also was from down South.

An animal that is nocturnal and super reclusive can reach huge proportions. Dr James Kroll said, "The next world record Whitetail buck will not be taken by a stand hunter, but rather by a skilled still hunter that slips into the bucks bedding area undetected."  I tend to believe the statement as it makes a lot of sense.

The hog in the first picture looks to be bloated. May be a case of letting it set for a spell. You know the gig. Some yahoo rides around with a good buck strapped to the roof of the car for a few days showing it off. By the time the show is over the meat is foul, but by George the dude got his moment in the sun Mr. Green

that is a biiiig pig!!!!!! (too bad the picture is fake)

Please feel free to tell us all about it.

First I have to apologize, the picture is probably not fake. What I meant to say is that the whole 1800+ pounds hog shot in texas rumor is a hoax. All you have to do is to run a search on google for "1800 pounds boar". The picture may or may not be fake, but even if it's not fake, it is grossly misleading.

if you look at the leafs and the grass in front of the pig, they are huge when compared to the ones behind. That's what made me think it was fake. That, combined with posting at midnight after a long day, started the whole thing and I appologize once more for that.

It may be just a problem of perspective. it's very easy to artificially create an image of a big animal if you hide far behind in the background and you take the picture close to the animal. This is no news, a lot of the photographers in the fishing magazines use the technique to augment the size of the fish. hunters do it too, aparently.

The boar in question, acording to the real source of that picture, weighted 355 kg (around 780 pounds), which is huge, but dissapointingly small when compared to the 1800+ number that was pushed around. Pictures of the same pig were circulating on the net a few years back, and it was initially shot in California, then in Missouri and  now in Texas. The real origin of the picture is on a brochure that belongs to nature tours, a French company specialized in hunting trips. you can see it here:

Naturetours

here is an example from my own photos using the same technique ( no hunting for fairies hereSmile)))

And here is another one, not mine this time. real or not????

OK.  I wasn't sure if you were upset with me as I ment no harm.

What a huge ugly SOB that was!  I never want to see one like that in my life!  It was a bit too much for even MY 6.5X 55 and I stretch it a bit!  I suspect it wold just piss that thing off and then what?

I agree about the white tail and the still hunter.   I don't know about you but the idea of sitting in a box blind over looking a food plot is not likely to get a buck like you describe.  They do get good deer that way in some areas but to me they are farmed deer and not really wild.  I shot rates at a dump in much the same manner when I was a boy.

Put some money down on a used 12 Ga. 3 1/2 inch 835 Mosburg pump yesterday.  If I can get use to the 3 1/2" 2 oz turkey loads perhaps I might be up for a real rifle some day as well. Smile

Agreed Bobby, that's one huge ugly porker. Thanks to Sebastian's research it's not 1800 pounds though. Now my 500 pounder don't seem so small Big Grin

I know you'll flip out when I tell you this, but, DON'T shoot that Messberg with them turkey loads! Tears will roll down your face, your shoulder will be black & blue, and you'll flinch for a year with your rifle afterwards. You know what I've shot in rifles, elephant guns. And NONE of them ever beat me like that Mossberg did. I think it's the way the shotgun is stocked, but trust me, it's brutal. I can't say it enough, you'll think you've been killed when you light off a 3 1/2 inch turkey load with that shotgun.

No joke, I still feel the pain.

Thank You. My buddy in Texas is in a whole heap of trouble now Big Grin However, I am strongly suspect that he has been duped as well.

To date I have killed some over 300 Russian boars. Aside from the first few ( due to inexperience ) I tried to keep the weights around 350 pounds as they seem to offer the best eating. Of course when a chance came along at a 500 pound tusker I couldn't pass it up Mr. Green  When my buddy sent me the pics I knew the hog was way bigger than my pig, so I swallowed the story.

In your first picture, if that isn't Photoshopped, it is a very nice job of positioning the 2nd subject quite distant from the main.

Now about that bunny. I WANT one of those! So many coyotes around here there isn't a rabbit left for miles.

Glad you got to the bottom of it. I will address your other concerns on your other post.

Thanks!

So is it true that if a farm pig escapes from t's pen and becomes a wild pig it will turn from a pink pig to one that you see in the wild

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Once they go wild they are called feral hogs. The original escapee won't turn a different color but the offspring over time may.

Feral Hogs

A Russian Boar

Note Coarseness and length of hair. Too, Russian have a pronounced hump on the back.

Of note~ A stocked Brookie that makes a season would technically be called a feral fish Big Grin

Koda don't care what that thing weighs, two things I wouldn't want to bump into when walking with just a fly rod in hand are snakes and something with teeth like that thing. Now on a plate after coming out of a smoker with some Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce.

Anything wild I reckon can be unpredictable so I wouldn't rule out a rooter charge by a feral hog in the right situation. The Russians on the other hand are dirt mean with a very nasty attitude.  And that's BEFORE you piss em off.

I can still well remember the first hunt I went on for them. My buddy was using a 60 pound pull compound. I wasn't so brave and had a 35 Whelen in hand. Ole Jimmy John sticks a porker 15 yards or so out, nailed em square. At the hit the arrow looked like the one you see in the cartoons. Booooooing! And the arrow shaft was quiverin all over. The rooter looks over at my buddy, makes the connection that it was JJ that done it, lowers his head, and CHARGED! Ole JJ dropped the bow and managed to get up a tree just before the thing hit him. He kept telling me to shoot the fkr, and I would have, cept I was laughing so hard I had tears coming down my face.

When a Russian hits you he hits low, about ankle height. When he connects he snaps his head up at which point the razor sharp tusk rip you open from there up to the knee. Further up if it's a big pig that stands high.  Leader material works in a pinch, but if you don't have a needle you have to cut holes to stitch the victim up. About that time he's asquealin worse than the pig and you have to knock em out to finish stitching him up. Sounds crude, but if you don't do it your buddy will bleed out before you can get him to the hospital. I've had to do two so far.

I'm with you on the wild boar ribs, I know of nothing that tastes better.

What you lookin at ?

These are what do the damage. Of course getting hit by one that weighs 300 pounds and up

isn't exactly fun either. Unless you like getting smacked by a small pickup truck Laughing Out Loud

Yup them russians are mean.  I went on a medievil style boar hunt in Canada with spears.  The biggest hog they would release for us was 60lbs.  Hitting that thing with a six foot spear was about the scariest/dumbest thing I ever did.  It charged so hard that it put me on my ass, digging the spear into the ground an flipping it over me.  That was with two other spears in it already.

Myself I like a nice thick boar chop stuffed with apple walnut stuffing and topped with a nice brown mushroom gravey.
