Glad you two had a good time! I missed out but had company this weekend. I tied a couple new flies for me today and will be posting them in the appropriate section.
I'm looking foward to our fishing adventure coming up. I am hoping that my grandfather's recent passing doesn't exclude me at this point though.
I have to concur is was a great day, fishing and not catching any is a good day but add some landed fish and good company and you have a great day.
After lunch Brandon and I hit separate pools for a bit and it appears he and I had about the same luck I netted 4 nice browns and hooked and lost about the same or more. The browns in this section were jumping and fighting more like rainbows or salmon and with all the rocks in this area they were wrapping up and breaking loose. The largest was just a bit longer than my net opening so about 16" the rest were your standard fair 12-14". A bit less wind and I think we would have been on more. Unfortunately my memory card in my camara crapped out on me so no pics.
Brandon you really should not pick on us older folks, you're getting there yourself, so I can't see, and I may "dance" around a bit on slippery rocks in fast current, I'm still out there and will be until they float me out in a box.
Seriously though it was a great time and thank you for showing me around to some great spots in my own backyard. I look forward to doing it again very soon. Also thank you to Lee and the members of this site for making me feel at home ![]()
T-bone - sorry for your loss I hope it does not have an impact on next weekend's event but family certainly does come first and the season is just starting so there will be many more opportunities to come.
Tight line,
-K

actually lot of houses around this spot are for sale , this is actually a small brook that dumps into a small pond/lake hence culvert pipe and is full of rainbows and brown trout along with many species , nice fishery havn't caught anything huge but great spot easy place to cast the fly and hook up . those houses are awesome would love to own one, this dave where we were fishing is actually the tail of lake one where it necks down
this is basically one hole that seems to be full of trout at this point eventually the ones that make it will be back in the pond soon
was a great day
Well after your mentioning it I took a look at your peacock bugger. It seems you dressed it with white hackle in its latest variation. is that all? With some white or grey chennile and some crystal flash the bugger is also very effective. I bought one like this at lopstick the day you, Matt and I went. It was one of the few I didn't loose when I had that fight with the lodge's little dispensable fly box in the river. It was quite effective in some local outings, because as you know I didn't have any luck that weekend.
ha ha yep basic but cathes fish nothing flashy but the marabou is grey colored with white hackle and peacock herl body , i got some nice tying materials from kieth i think it was a whole pheasant

lol some grizzly hackel whole package and some flash gold with rainbow colors
i mat tie some new stuff up or just some buggers with flash and see how it goes headed to the river soon
had plans with keith to meet up at my place and try for some trout, keith arrived about 715 am and we did the meet and greet and headed for the 1st spot, fished it pretty hard for a while and keith was the 1 st to hook up on nice rainbow, i went got my camera and snapped some pics the fish were there just not hungry like i expected i think we tried all methods , i ended up getting one aswell, we fished on until 11 or so and decided to go try the river with very little luck spent an hour in one little section , decide to head for my house to eat after a quick stop by kieths house to grab some specs, i guess he finds it easier to tie on flys this was
we swung threw stopped at his house , nice house it was and his tying area hes got set up is top notch
after a quick lesson on the woodduck heron fly which i used later and hooked but lost a fish , it was back to my house for some steak subs for lunch hung out for an hour talking with the wife and eating some yumy food we decided to go down and try another section of the river we wern't there for very long before i found all the browns i landed 4 lost as many in one section i walk up to see kieth on a fish and it was jummping like crazy thought it was a rainbow but to my surprise it was a nice little brown i got to see him do the fish dance as the fish swam threw his legs while he was trying to net it , lets just say dancing should be left to the stars
i go up above and land a couple more , after a while keith decides he finally realizes his feet are frozen , and decides to head towards shore but not after another flyfishing dance where he spun around did a few head weaves and bobs and almost went swimming but saved it at last second , was funny but could have been bad . i figured out quickly i must have got small hole in my waders and feel wet hmmmm, head back to my place to change pants found little hole (will repair today) got changed headed up to the spot we started in morn with no luck except i found 3 brand new lures that will come handy come bass season had a blast was a pleasure to meet you ktbone until next time
All in all great day with great company and conversating had a blast.
