Mudhole Shop-Our-Catalog MHX-Fly-Kits

This kit is the one i will get to try for my 1st build . i figure for under $100. its worth the try , i realize i will have to spend a little more but i think for about $125 i can have something that keeps me busy for a spell and i like the color of the blank. seems the legnth and wt i want i can only get in 3 piece ? should i be concerned? i wanted 2 piece but cannot find one in 6'6" 3wt. are 3 piece harded or more involved to build . prob order with in the next week or so ... So any thoughts on this would be helpful sooner then later. Way i see it is can't mess it up until i put expoy on it LOL so why not give it a shot ....

i went with 3wt cause i plan on buying a 4wt 10' ft rod for nymphing and then i want to buy a 3/4 weight hardy reel with extra spool , one reel, 2 rods makes sense to me . i will always have my 5 wt which i really enjoy and gives me the chance at the bigger fish .

Ziggy

I see nothing wrong with a three piece rod.  Should be the same to build as a two piece.  Make sure you get a good rod tube for it after you build it.  Go to the link and Bill can make that for you in any size you want for $23.85.  Should brake down to about 26 inches long.  Thats an easy rod to toot around.

See Yah
Thanks

no biggy Lee just figured it was small stream rod lol where ever it is is good hoping to get some feed back . actually guessing this rod is what i would want for the wild fish i choose to chase , perhaps even try it on the mid sized waters aswell.

That's a great price for the kit.

You'll need a way to spin the rod so you can wrap the thread for the eyes. Whan you coat the thread with epoxy you'll need to have it spin so the glue dries evenly.

Thanks carva i will talk to nic about that aspect he said he bought one and would lend it to me when i wanted to do a build , i also plan on leaning on him for some tips as he has just done 2 , i want it to be something i can be proud to carry to the stream ... lol like the fish care .... i know i could tie a piece of fly tippet  to a stick with a fly and catch them but i would really like a unique rod that i built ... i do ok arts and craft type things and may look for someone that could paint my name and wt on rod before i expoy it ... see how it goes plan on pulling the trigger on it this week by wednesday .

Is Bill back on board? That's a damn good price on that rod tube.

& Ziggy

At one time you couldn't pay me to fish anything but a 2 pc fly rod.  With the technology out now, I love the 3 and 4 pc rods better. Less PITA to transport and I like the way they flex better. Just me Smile

Koda as of now I think he is still down.  I need to get up that way and drop in and see what going on.  He sure has nice stuff and it would be shame if he goes out.

See Yah

I'm starting to worry. He may have something that Penicillin won't cure. He's been out of commission for a damn long time now. North Country Angler will have an update on him, have you checked there?
