After going to my fly shop and Cablea's and not finding any saddle hackle on the shelf. I thought I would try to order my hackle . This is the message I got .

     Notice To Saddle Buyers :

Expect Delays and backorders do extrodanay demand from Hair Industry !

Now how can I compete with that. My saddle hackle is back ordered so chicks can put saddle hackle feathers in their hair.  Mad WTF is the world coming to ? Crazy First global warming then Obama and now this . The Mayans are right Eek!

This has been going on for about a year now Dave, My wife contributes to this LOL she is a hair dresser she has cleaned me out of a good portion of mine getting 25-50$ for 3 feathers seemed worth to me Smile she made over 500$ with what she took from me. One supplier raised the cost 40% on a huge 3000 $ order and the beauty salon owner never blinked, not once, its crazy The guy selling the feathers was pissed he thought they wouldn't buy them at all , But they did no questions asked ...... they get like 45 $ for 5 feather packs online ... She has since left that salon and works at a barber shop not much call for this anymore and my supply survied so i can tie some flies anything specil your looking for ? i may have some i could send you.

Geez Zig that's insane.  All I can say if I don't get my hackle all of you will be getting something different for the fly swap. Hard to tie a Renegade without the white hackle. Might be emegers for you guy's.  I will wait and see.  Dave V

Dave

"Black Magic" will be a one termer. The Chinese got wind of the feather shortage and soon will flood the market with inferior chicken feathers. What the Hell, they already sent us the snakeheads and flying carp Big Grin

The fad will end just as the mini skirt and bell bottoms did. When it does, we should take the time to bust Metzt's balls as well as the rest of the US chicken capers.

Typical American busisness though, rape em when you can and then cry for a tax break.

Hay Paul

You need to add this site to the links page.  Go to links and click on "Add a Link" and add this site Please.  I will have to approve it before it shows up.  Put it in the correct area, Fly Shop or Fly Tying.  Maybe do both, you will need to make and entry for both.

See Yah
Thanks
Lee

Dave,

Here's another one.

Red Shed Fly Shop

The guys on FFIM were talking about this in Oct. Someone suggested this shop at the time. Appearently the shop owner had stockpiled some hackles for fly tyers only. He wasn't selling to hair salons.
