Thank you Mr Moderator of flies! I will do all in my limited wisdom to answer them
Have you ever played with Orvis ? Sage ?
Both Sir. Any particular models?
Just curious. I have a Sage Z-Axis 7wt . Haven't cast it more then once. I have a Gatti 4wt for most of my fishing needs. You have me thinking . It sure would be nice to have a 5 piece 4 wt for travel Like this trip to Maine. I am afraid to travel with my rod. I don't want my rod or rods to go on the belly of the plane. Most definitely the reel.. I think I might try to find a 4 or 5 piece . Any suggestions ?

You have a 7 wt Z axis and cast it once? :wtf: What's up with that!
You gotta narrow it down there buddy. Carbon, glass, or cane? Price range?

I have a question about the Redington rod, what lengths can you get as well as wt. I would think seriously at a 6' rod in the 4 or 5 wt. area. Do they come that short??

I picked up a Heritage rod in a 4 weight a while back that was a 7 footer. and was amazed at how well that rod tossed a line.
A 6 footer in a 4 or 5 weight I don't believe is something common, but, if you are looking for a rod to brush bust with the Elkhorn Micro needs a close look. How about a 4'6" 4 weight! Surprisingly, these little bantam length rods can perform and are a blast to cast and to fish with. I have one here in a 3 weight and it's like fishing with a dandelion puff
I carry the Elkhorn line so smokin deals are in order for forum members.
The other option and one that has me wired right up now that you mentioned it, is to have my Rep do me up one in a 6 foot length on say a 4 weight in an IM12 blank. We may just be on to a new generation in fly rods
No matter how many fly rods we have, there is always room for one or two more. As some may know, Redington was bought out by Sage a while back and Sage chose to leave the Redington brand name in place.
They moved manufacture of the Redington line to China where the rods are being made today, under some very strict quality control. And it really shows in the final product.
Available from a 2 weight up through a 6 weight they pretty much have the bases covered. The Ultra Light guys looking for a one weight won't find that offering yet, nor will the gentleman looking for another salmon rod in a 7 weight or up. Well, not in the Classic line anyway.
The rods are beautiful, well made, and cast like a dream. I run casting classes and have yet to find anyone who does not cast better with one of the Classics in hand.
The cork is a very good grade, the sections have alignment dots, the wood in the reel seat is pretty, and the hardware is done to the letter. The rods cast with precision and track like a laser in the short cast. If one needs to reach out and drop a fly on the other side the rod will deliver, and without doing a trailing loop to wind knot your leader.
The rod comes with a rod sock and a nice Codura rod tube. The best part is the price. Right at the $150 mark.
I enjoyed fishing with the rods so much I had them in a 2 wt, a 3,4,and a 6 weight. The only one I managed to hang on to was the 6 weight. Seems like everyone who came over and cast one just couldn't live or leave without it. Of course I WILL be replacing the ones they made off with.
If you're in the market for a fly rod take a hard look at the Redington Classic Trout. Put one together and cast one, you'll buy it every time!

A 6 Wt Redington Classic Trout with a Martin Mohawk Fly Reel
This is my first post as Moderator in the gear section on Lee's forum. Hope I can live up to the challenge. I'll be doing reviews on just about evrything in fly fishing gear. While I have my own lines of rods, reels, lines and other items for fly fishing I will be focusing on the other guys gear and leave the reviews on my gear up to you guys
If you are considering a particular rod or reel let me know. If I'm not familiar with it, one of my dealers no doubt is, as I have them all over the country, ah, make that the world.
Wish me luck
