Have any of you ever flyfished in the winter before. I get to here in South Dakota. I have even flyfished in Jan . I love to fish it when we get those slow big snow flake kind of day. I have had really good sucess in the winter with small nymphs or tiny midge flies. You would be surprised how many large fish I have caught that way.

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Those big snowflake days are when I like to hunt. or. just stay in the
camp. Luckily here the season closes Oct. 15th for fishing and doesn't
reopen till April 15th.. But, even then it is cold...And, boy do I hate having to submerse my rod to thaw the ice out of the guides and trying
to tie on a fly while wearing mittens is extremely difficult... Big Grin

I'm lucky here In SD, We live in what they call the banana belt. It could be 10 below one day and fourty above the next in the midle of Jan Big Grin That makes me so very happy. Some days I'll start with flyfishing end with icefishing. Don't get no better than that.
