Have any of you ever used Coq De Leon for tail material ?  I have read and herd that this material is an awesome feather for tailing. I have looked up the prices and they seam to be a bit pricey. I think I will give it a try . Just curious if you folks have used it before.

Ah, now I know which ones they are and I have used them on my trolling flies. They are indeed some prime feathers. I palmer them over a herl body and use it as a laid back hackle collar on a modified Hornberg or a modified Heron.

Come to think on it I don't think I have so much as one conventional fly that I haven't altered. The trout will speak to those who can hear, and over time a little change in this and a little change in that have evolved into sometimes a whole new fly. The trout of course are the ones who say yes, or no.

I've adapted flies to specific waters with great success. For all I know they may not be worth a hoot up in the Rangleys or elswhere.

But when you get it the way they want it it's the berries. You troll along a break nearing the shallows as dusk starts to settle in. Of a sudden the canoe stops cold and you think at first you're hung on the bottom. Drat!  Then, you feel that sullen bullish powerful shake of a huge brook trout and you know your in for a fight if you plan on seeing this one up close and personal.

Ziggy knows one of the places I do this, and we've both caught some very nice Browns out of that same water.

Myself, I like those particular feathers Fishing

Next time I pull the Sony out I'll shoot one of the modified Herons and post it. Maybe somebody else can lay em low with the new version.

Koda

I edited your last post and made it so the picture shows in the post. Go here to see how you do that.  Also just edit your post and you will see how it is done.

I would have to say that fish was about 30 to 35 lbs.

See Yah
Thanks
