MAINE - Life in the Slow Lane
Now is my chance to go on a RANT. 
Forty years ago marked the real beginning of the decline in the
natural trout populations..The baby boomers(My generation) had
entered the work force...were better paid...had more leisure time...
therefore had better equipment and the ability to travel....and fish we did!! ....and still do.
At the same time the forestry companies went in to high gear building
access roads into the back country thus opening up areas that were
before very difficult to reach.
Now it is shorter work week and the bb group are retiring en mass
and still doing their best to murder every last fish out there.
Our group may have made great strides in science and technology
but we sure havn't done much for the environment

The invention of the quard four wheeler what ever you want to call it is the final straw for the fish if you ask me. The hard to reach beaver dams and hidden lakes are no easy access 
I don't want you older fisherman to take this one in the wrong way but I have to ask. Do you feel flyfishing was better 40 plus years ago or better now ?
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
