Well yesterday morning found myself and Nic down to the local brook , we went down to take pics of the high water and walked along much of it snaping many pictures, as we walked along it it was quite impressive amounts of water and very fast and high. We did notice many good looking pools despite the water levels and flow. Nic showed me how to set my camera to get some cool water pics and we drove around and looked for more water and i gave him a tour of some back country, it was too bad, it seems the dirt roads(the ones i wanted to show him things on)  are the ones that took a beaten during the storm we came across a washed out road with a power line getting strectched down to the ground by a tree leaning on it and then drove past that to find the road was gone on the other side so we parked and walked around snapped some pics ....

Some fish we saw in calm water ....

Road washed away ........

Nic driving by down tree and line...

Pic of the little run off that created the road wash out the night before....

Nic jumping across wash out.....

water in the road driving back to my place....

Then after i got home i had nothing to do so i grabed my rod and went back over to the upper section was hig but found some slower pools and a couple of these Smile ..... was great day to hang out with Nic and shoot some pics and actually get some fish after the big storm .

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Zig,

Shutter speed is a fantastic way of delivering the idea of motion to a subject in still photo.  Again I wish I had knownthis was something you didn't know I would have loved to show you anything I know.  I owe it to you as you helped me with fishing.  However I am assuming that this is the principle that Nic taught you, from viewing the photos.

Filming waterfalls and having the ability to make shots of silky smooth water flowing majestically over rocks was the first reason I discovered to want a DSLR in the first place.

I cannot believe that during the time I was in Vermont, I left my camera at home!  I thought some cool photos could have been had of possibly lightening from my mothers amazing patio view with a several minute exposure time.  That was my first idea then I saw photos of covered bridges emersed in waves, and was jsut awstruck by the beauty of the photos.

This is a link to a photo of a covered bridge on Route 4 through Vermont in Taftsville.

Also here is a link to one road damage areas between my mother's where we were staying and my inlaws house about 20 miles away.

I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to get back as most major highways were estimated weeks from repair.

Now that I'm back I need to get caught up on my posting.  Very nice set of photo's Ziggy.  You do have a talent for good photo's and the fish are just beautiful, real NH gems.  We will definately need to fish sometime soon, maybe not this year but next for sure.  I hope my favorite streams in the White Mtn's are doing OK, need to check river flows on the USGS site.

See Yah

Thanks

Lee

Nice set of pictures Ziggy!  It was fun hanging out, adventurous day!  Glad you were able to get back and get a brookie!  I knew there would still be fish in that slower water out of the current!

Yes Nic was nice to go out and do that it was fun and i learned a couple of things along the way ....

yep was tough fishing the faster water but just like we had thought most of the fish were right on the edge. i used stimulator and elk hair caddis they slamed them just like when the water was slower was fun hour or so. only got 2 i think ...
