Just to chime in with a little report . Took the Nephew out for a few hours after work yesterday . We had a pretty good time . I caught some nice little browns as well some rainbows. Nephew caught a couple nice browns and bows as well. I got one picture to download of his little brown not sure how it came out.  There was a very good hatch on a mixture of caddis and some mayflies.  We caught the majority of our fish on a Renegade. There were some really nice browns trying to make it over the dam . That was really cool. I would say some of those browns were over 20 inches. Well hope to get out Sunday maybe I will get some more pictures this time. Dave V

Dave those are nice browns and glad your nephew had success. The smile says it all, I think you just passed on the bug. A new flyfisherman created, good for you.

Dave, Nice looking brown!  It's good to see the next generation getting started in the outdoors!  Thanks for sharing a report from the Dakotas, I've been out there once on my way to and from Yellowstone.  Nice country, I really enjoyed the scenery across both states.

Thanks Nic I woke up a sleeping giant as they say. The kid is obsessed.  He told his mom all he wants for Xmas is a pair of waders. Nothing else in his words. I think I am going to get him a little fly tying starter kit. He calls me a couple Friday's ago and wanted to go fishing because he found out it was my day off. I said sure but don't you have school. I ruined his day I think. I am going to surprise him Sat . Taking him hiking to some beautiful Brook Trout water. Packing a lunch good hike to some pretty Black Hills water. I think he will enjoy the walk in and hopefully some nice wild Brookies.

That is fantastic!  It is great to be able to share something like flyfishing with kids.  Also it will build a stronger bond between the two of you.

I hope the fishing trip is good.
