Deer season opened here last Monday. I went with my fishing buddy on his 4-wheeler to his

tree stand. Build a fire in the stove. Boiled the kettle on the propane cooker.  Made coffee and

sat there for the afternoon drinking coffee and chatting. I sat my gun(camera) on the table when I

arrived and didn't touch it again until we were leaving. My chum didn't seem to be in a hunting

mood either.. But the time wasn't wasted. Our conversation covered a lot of ground.

It sure felt like hunting season...Especially when it snowed a bit on the way out to the woods..

Almost forgot to mention that we saw 5 deer on the way.....all does.

Happy Fishing and Tying

Mike you need to go hunting where Stephen goes to take pictures. I used to go into the woods at dark, make my way to my stand, sit all day and see nothing till I was in my truck on my way out of the woods. Sold or gave away my guns and bought more fly gear. Laughing Out Loud

Deer are like cattle here . I can walk in the woods here and see 25 or more deer in a day.   Heck one day while heading out fishing I counted over 50 deer in 8 mile drive.  Deer were so thick one year they gave out five tags per person to help thin em out.

They are supposed to be plentyful here in Nova Scotia this year as well and I got drawn for an either sex license but I can't see one anywheres...grrrrrrrrrrrr.....went pheasant hunting yesterday for the first time ever. I went with a fellow salmon angler and Master Guide. I had the time of my life...fired 1/2 a box of shells and never touched a bird...LOL...but it was fun...his dog was great put up 14 birds and most of them my way...it was a great afternoon!!

Sounds to me like you can't hit the side of the barn with a bag full of rice.  I am not sure where that comes from but it just came to me when you said you never touched a bird.  Wing shooting was not my forte at all, I tried with my dad but I was terrible.

Thanks

Lee
