I'm a little late with posting this trip report as last week after my trip was a bit of a bust for me, with taking the Monday off then doing a 24 hour duty which subsequently screws you up for the next day and before you know it the long weekend was upon me.
We stayed at Canalside cabins in Grand Lake Stream  from Saturday 15 May to Monday 17 May. The Cedar Cabin was nice with all the things necessary for a good stay even had satellite TV which was a little more than expected. West Grand Lake was extremely rough on that weekend with only slightly less wind and waves on Monday. Even the boats at Grand lake lodge were tied up on Sunday and there were some pretty substantial boats tied up that were alot bigger than mine, so I thought it best not to tempt fate. We did get out for a few hours on Big Lake and motor up to the mouth of the stream. Had to stay on the lee side of the lake though.  Saw a few salmon landed at Dam pool but didn't get any myself. The water level was 485 cfs and seemed  a little on the high side, but fishable just the same.  We explored a few spots on the stream that I hadn't fished before as well as driving up to Elliot Landing on Pocomus lake where there is a camp ground and boat launch. We then drove up to Dobsie Dam at the foot Syladobsis lake, had a good chat with some locals who hauled up on four wheelers.

Good post Bill . Bummer the weather wasn't up to par on your fishing trip. Pretty good size whitecaps in the photo.   Nice bronze-back to.  Although you didn't get much fishing in I bet you still enjoyed the time off .  Sounds like the camps up there are pretty nice. Dish TV pretty cool.  Looking fwd to your next report hope to see a 25 plus salmon. Dave V

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Nice report!!  485 is a nice flow for that river, that was what we had back in 1999 when I just had a ball hooking salmon in the river by the hatchery.  There is a lot of river there for you to explore, so you need to take the time and fish more places on the river.

Thanks for the report.

Thanks

Lee

as for 25 pounders they are rare and when you do tangle with one most of the time they win, think of tying your leader around the collar of a full grown german shephard and trying to stop and corral him with your flyrod.  But one must always be ready, leader checked for frays and wind knots at all times. The only place that I may have came close was on the North Pole Stream and man was there ever some sharks swimming around Anthony's hole. I should try to get that spot again.
