Hey guy's I just wanted to tell you that I finally got out on the stream. I decided enough is enough. I got my butt out and cast for a couple of hours. The wife and dog came along to. It was a beautiful day mid 60's . There were bugs coming off the water and the air was full of various mayflies. We walked the stream for a bit playing with our dog Sage, She is getting up there in age and I have to relize our time together on the stream together is shot. Dreading that day. My wife Stephanie pointed out to me the fish were moving and rising at the end of a slow run. We watched as the mayflies drifted down stream over the run but went right on through without being gulped by the rising fish. Ah I said i think they are takeing emergers under the surface . I tied on a little gray cdc mayfly emerger one of my favorite flies. I soon stripped out a few feet of line and made a fe attempts to cast. Remember my wrist has been givng me trouble over the last few weeks. My cast werent very pretty and I let out moans and groans. I moved down a lttile closier to the run so I wouldnt have to work so hard on my cast. The fly hit the water with a nice little splash . Crap I thought I must of spooked the whole dang run but to my amazement they didnt seam to be bothered at all. My fly went thru the first time unnoticed and so did the second. For a second there i thought I was wrong about my favorite fly. Then on the third cast a flash and a tug on the line. I pulled back on the hook and let out a yelp. Not becuase i hooked a fish but my wrist shot pain all the way up my arm. I was not going to let this get in the way I came to fish and I was going to land this fish come hell or high water. A rainbow a nice one to. I don't know if you have noticed but fish seam to fight better in the fall. I played this fish for what seamed like forever Everytime the red striped speckled beauty got close to the net it made another run up stream into the current. Its like this fish knew my hand was hurting and he was going to make me pay for hooking him. Finally the fish seamed to give up and was coming closerto my net but i could not lift my rod and net the fish . It hurt so much let me tell you. My wife Stephanie who was watching the whole show from the foot bridge above the run came to my rescue . She took the net and scooped up a beautiful red striped speckled rainbow all 19 inches and thick across the back. No wounder he gave me such a battle I said look at the witdth of that tail. Almost as wide as my hand. For the length of the fish the tail looked out of proportion . If the fish lives a while and grows into that tail look out !!!!! We released the fish and all three of us sat there on the back enjoying the day filled with good conversation. One was where did I leave the camera LOL. Dave V

19 inches that's respectable anywhere except maybe Alaska.  I've only ever caught a few small rainbows. Although there are incidental catches of them in the Saint John River.
