Question for my freinds north of the border ? Are any of you close to Westervelt NB ? There was a fishing show on tv today they were staying at the Black Rapids Lodge and fishing the Miramichi. Ever heard of it guys ? Dave V

Your trips are more likely to be a hell of allot more fun. Hey Mike do see allot of folks trolling for Atlantic Salmon. The guides on this fishing show were trolling is that the norm for those big outfitters .

Dave

Trolling is done in the spring for the black salmon. I have done it in the spring and you will catch a lot of fish that way. Summer and fall fishing is by casting not enough water to use a boat.

Just my two cents.

Thanks Lee , These guys were trolling for Atlantic Salmon but only landed three . One about 10 inches my kind of fish lol and one that was caught in another boat not caught on film about 20 plus pounds, and one about 5 pounds They did catch a few nice brookies trolling also. You are right about trolling early spring, There was still some snow on the banks. They went to the Atantic Salmon Hall of Fame. They showed Ted Willams reel and fishing hat along with his photos pretty cool. Dave V

Lee is correct Dave. No trolling for fresh run salmon only for slinks in the spring!

Mike, actually our rates are much more reasonable (cheaper) then what you posted.  The lodge is right on the river and looks over our private salmon pools.  This is the link to the lodge website
