First let me state that I must be jinked because this was not a very good day to fish up in the North Conway/Jackson area. It rained on Thursday night/Friday morning and those rivers just ballooned up because of it. The Saco went from just under 600 cfs to over 3000 cfs early Sat. morning. When I got there it was around 1600 cfs, which is still very high water. I was to meet Caddis but found out later that he became ill and could not make it. So I fished for a while down below the bridge behind the golf course and did nothing. Some fish were rising in the water I walked past to get behind the golf course, so I came back and tried to see if I could move a fish or two. No luck at the first place I tried so I went up to the pool below the bridge. The fish were coming up all over the place so I tried what I have used in the past (Griffith Gnat) and had some success, landing about 5 fish. Brook trout and Brown trout. The fishing slowed by 10:30 so I moved on to the Ellis to see what was happening there, to make a long story short, NOTHING. So off to the Wildcat to see how it was doing. Water was very high for this small river but I tried a couple of easy spots and had some success at the second. I landed two fish, both brook trout and wild, one 5 inches and the other at least 8 inches. Off to see if Bill Franke was around and he was so I stayed at his place for a while, while he did some chores and we discussed fishing that evening on the Saco. He tyed up a few flies for the night and he and his wife joined me and we tried around the bridge. I got one fish, another brook trout and Bill and Karen each caught a couple or three fish apeace. It was a good day out but if the water level was better the fishing would have been much better.

Great fishing report Lee. Even with the high fast water you must have been happy to at least land a few. I think I would drop a club from my bag and let people play through while I fished behind the golf course you spoke of. We received rain all day Sunday the 11th, slow but steady in Bangor/Brewer.
I would love to get out fishing soon, but our company is moving a large hospital network in Lincoln for the next two weekends. Possibly will get out on Fathers day if not than I don't know when. It's amazing how busy the summer can get.

Take care all and good luck,
Scott
