A big thank you to Ray for the invitation up to his cabin on 24-26 April. I had an great time, drove up on Friday after work. Saturday morning we fished the Little Southwest and then the Northwest in the afternoon. With Ray landing the only fish of the day a grilse. Water was very high and dirty, I didn't see any other boats land any fish but we did speak to one guy and some kids in a boat that said they had got one salmon. After we were back at the cabin for supper we were surprised to see Stephen drive in, and bearing gifts too. He gave Ray and I enough flys to do the whole season. So I BBQ'd deer sausage and we had supper on the deck. Had a great evening, we'll have to do it again sometime. On Sunday we fished at Blackville, lots of boats running up and down the river, even saw one guy in a Miramichi death boat with a 55hp on the back of it. If you've never saw one of these Miramichi home made boats thay are small affairs at best usually with a 9.9 or maybe a 15hp, but a 55hp! Fished a few spots in Blackville with no strikes. Watched some cut up trees sail down river and lots of other debris. So by 5PM we packed it in. There's alot of wildlife around Ray's cabin watched deer on two different occaisions swim across the river. I uploaded some pics onto my album.

Bill G.

PS - I'm sure you guys thought that I was missing in action this week as I was quite busy with a meeting on Tuesday and getting my boat ready for the May 01 lake opener, but as you can see I'm on the computer and not fishing today as the winds are gusting 30-60 and rain so I will be heading out to Big Oromocto lake tomorrow when the rain is supposed to end by noon.

Pretty dang cool , looked at pictures very nice. Good to see Stephen enjoying his beer while supprting the american economy (BUD), Good to see a salmon in the boat . Looks like a great time Dave V

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.

Better late than never with the pics eh Dave. Yes I knew that Stephen was an Alpine man and with all the cross border banter I thought I better get him on film with a Bud in his hand. We even took a close up of the fly, jus for you Dave. I'm running off of an old clunky digital camera with a whopping 16MB of memory so I have to choose my pics carefully lest I fill it up and then hook a big one.

Glad you liked the pics, Dave. Bill did a nice job. Bill was also a great guest, cooked, cleaned and let me do most of the drinking. Was really nice of Stephen to come all the way from Plasterock to visit. Sorry we did not have some decent beer for him.

Unfortunately my new boat did not work out, so Bill and I were limited as to where we could fish. I am now in possession of a 14 foot delux Jon boat, it is a dandy, but not what I need. A kind neighbor has lent me his back up Miramichi suicide boat. It works so good with my new motor that is as much fun to drive as it is to fish.

While I was in N.S. the fishing was great here on the Miramichi, then it rained the day I got back, so fishing is tough again.

Anyone looking for a G3 1448 outfitter contact me. You can view the boat on the Yamaha web site.

Ray

Ray- Happy on the Miramichi !!!!!

Hi Ray
You did not hear me complain about the beer..Beggars
can't be choosers. Big Grin Big Grin
Glad to hear that you are back on the water...I am puttering
like mad (at least 2 hours a day) trying to get things done
around here so that I can get over and help you chase a trout around.

Happy Fishing and Tying
