Quote by: scott+pDoes anyone plan on making a trip to the Grand Lake Stream area this spring or summer?
If so let me know, if its possible I would like to meet any one or more of you folks up there. I have a camping trip planned for that area Memorial day weekend. I should be arriving to pitch tent Thursday the 21st late evening or the afternoon of the 22nd.
Thanks,
Scott

I would love to meet up with you but that trip is not on my radar this year. If it was it would be in the fall, late Sept. or early Oct. After your trip please post a Fishing Report and some pictures if you get some.

I certainly will post some pictures from that trip. I'll make sure to stop into Pine Tree Store, I do three-four times a year anyhow, and get a fishing report from the owner.

Pretty place to fish Scott wish I were back in Maine I would meet up with you. Dave V
I'll be down there on 08 May, we're staying at Grand Lake lodge (cabins).

Bill, if you don't mind I will try and make some plans to be out that way Saturday the 9th. As we get closer to the time maybe we can chat some more. I have never fished the stream or pools. I have always sat back and watched people from the grassy knoll to the left of the dam. Kind of always been intimadated about getting down there with all the other folks. I talked to someone last summer that fished down stream from the hatchery and had great luck using some big flies...that was in august. When and if you get tired of trying GLS I could possibly show you some trout streams and small ponds in the area. Talk soon, Scott
Hi Scott
Just so there are no false expectations this will only be my second time fishing at GLS, so I'm no expert. Weather depending we'll probably be trolling the lake, if the lake is too rough then we may be fishing the stream, I'm keeping my options open, so I'd hate to see you change plans on my account and then I wasn't there. We're staying Friday night and leaving later on Saturday for home. If the weathers good then I'll fish all day on Saturday if the weathers not good then we may pack it in a little early. But hey if you see a guy with a Canadian accent wearing cabelas camo waders (max4) thats me. As for fishing any crowded pool, on the Miramichi we use the rotation system where every angler takes two steps to the side after every cast and every one rotates through the pool. Not sure as the the stream etiquette on GLS however speaking to other anglers on the bank usually goes along way in figuring out what's going on. If there's any older gentlemen on the shore I usually suggest that they go in front of me, this goes a long way to being accepted. Some of the best conversations I've had while fishing were before actually fishing. I met a guy at Quarryville once who was 84 years old and had been fly fishing Atlantic Salmon for 40 years and he was fishing with, as he described him "that young whippersnapper of a son of his who was only 60". Anyway hopefully we'll run into each other there.
