Dave
I have fished for Bass in the past with a flyrod, my dad (when he was alive) and I would troll small streamer flies for smallmouth bass up in Canada in the summer when we vacationed up their. The Bass mostly where 2 to 3 lbs. in size and would give spectacular fights on a fly rod. Have not done any fishing for them for a long time now.

I used to fish for largemouth when I was down in Georgia , I fished for smallmouth in northern Maine. I fished for White , large and small mouth bass in South Dakota, My largest on a fly rod 41/2 pound largemouth a 4 pound smallmouth about 2 pound white bass and a 7 pound pike by accident.
Hi Dave
I live about a two minute drive from good bass water but have been
spoiled with the salmon and trout fishing. So I don't fish for bass at all.
I have hooked a few on a fly rod. none bigger than 3-4 pounds.
Great fight on a fly rod for the first few seconds but then the fight
seems to go out of them.

If these temps keep going pretty soon all my fish will be warm water.
I don't fish anything but salmon and trout also.
I see you guys would have to be called purist.
I wouldn't say that Dave. Just more like ...I don't have enough time to get into other fishing. Time management is critical...LOL
I see. I would have to say if I had salmon water out my door I probally woundlt fish for warm water fish either.
I'm not saying I haven't tried any other fish'n (ie: Bass) but you right about being on salmon water its the most addictive thing I know!! I usually give up on the fish'n of all kinds come September to Bear , Deer , & Bird hunt... but when we move to the Miramichi it may be hard to pull me away from the river before 15 October
Do you ever fish for small and large mouth bass on a fly rod. If so what is your largest fish taken on a fly rod ?
Have you ever fished for pike on a fly rod? What about white bass ?
Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was
cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words,
and some of the words are theirs.
