Thanks Dave. Looks like a good fly. I'll tie some up on Monday to use Tuesday morning.
Sounds good let me know how they work out for you ? Good luck on tuesday.
Dave
The Wood Special is a great fly at Sebago Lake Station in the fall for Landlocked Salmon. Earlier this last week I was getting swirls from Salmon on that fly. I did not hook up but they were interested in it.

Hey Lee welcome back . Ya this fly used to produce some nice LL Salmon for me especailly in the early spring and late fall. Dave V
Hey Caddis this is the Woods Special you were asking about, It has been called the Woodsman Special well thats what I have heard other people call it. I used it on Moxie Lake and did well with it on Landlocks , Brookies and Touge I have seen it tied with a collar also. Great trolling fly

Woods Special
Hook: Dai-Raki 700 or Mustad 79580
Thread: Black 6/0
Tail: Golden Pheasant Tippets
Eyes: Jungle Cock, tied short
Wing/Hackle: WoodDuck Tied Flat on top. Brown hackle
Body/Underbody: Hot Orange Chenille
Pattern and fly in picture originally submitted by the late Ron Brown (aka OldGuide)
Notes: The Brown hackle is tied in beard style. Not wrapped around the hook. Very easy pattern to tie. The hardest part is the wing. You have to find a woodduck flank feather that is long enough and flat enough to tie this fly right. One trick to get the feather to lat right and be flat is to soak the feather in hot water and press it flat between several sheets of newspaper with some thing heavy placed on top to help flatten it. Wait until it is dry and it should work much better.
