Nice story Mr Stephen . Good to hear your out and about had me a little worried there . I hope you get back out there with Ray and land a few fish maybe one of you would be kind enough to take a snapshot of those invisible fish LOL
Hi Stephen:
Hope your tests went OK.
Plan to get back to LSW Sunday afternoon or evening.
Hope the raise of water brought in some new fish.
Dave, we will get some pics for you.
Ray
Sure Ray promises , promises. LOL Dave V
Murray and I departed for the Little Southwest Miramichi
on Thursday morning.. I decided that for a change we would
travel a different route. We traveled down the St. John river
to Bristol and swung towards Juniper then down the Main
Southwest then shortcutting across Parker Ridge to Boiestown.
At Boiestown we stopped and toured the Woodsman Museum.. Then on to Doaktown and toured the Salmon Museum. And of course, we had to stop at Doak's tackle
shop before leaving Doaktown..
Proceeded on to Quarryvillle and watched the fishermen there for a few minutes. Was unable to visit George's tackle shop as he is in hospital. From there over to the LSW.
By the time we were esconched into the trailer the day was
shot so we decided to see if Ray was around...He was.....
Decidedly looking comfortable in his easy chair in his new digs. We exchanges pleasantries and a few fishing stories ..His hospitality was magnificent...In fact, is was good enough that I had difficulty driving back rhe short distance to the trailer. Before leaving Ray offered to pick us up in the
morning with his 4x4. We took that offer like a starving trout.
Ray arrived at the trailer next morning at the appointed
hour and we proceeded upriver towards Catamaran Brook
with several stops on the way for me to point out various
salmon pools which Ray and Murray were not familiar with.
Our first fishing stop was Bluestone pool..About fifth cast
Ray pulled the fly away from a fish...After several passes
through the pool and no further action we went to Harris
Brook pool...Murray hooked one for a few seconds and
raised a couple on a dry fly..The odd fish jumped or rolled
at different locations in the pool but no other takers.
Ray delivered us back to the trailer about 4 pm with a
promise to meet again before the season ends. Murray
and I decided we had enough fishing for the day and put
any other fishing off till morning. Unfortunately Saturday morning it started raining about 5:30 am. and did not stop...Therefore, Homeward bound at around 10 am.
The Fall run on the LSW is just starting with a few fish
holding up in the larger pools in the lower section of the
river. The raise in water from the present rains is expected
to bring in more fish
Happy Fishing and Tying
