Hey Lee, I will look at it more when I get home tonight. If your daying they are going to have a tri-state licence that would be cool.
I just got done reading it over Lee , That would be awesome to have a national licanse.. But a regional would even be better as long as they adjusted the cost. I could fish Montana , Wyoming South Dakota under one license That would save me the trouble of buying three different license's That would be great. Just my two cents Dave V
I could see something like that working in the states because you don't have to drive as far state to state to fish. Here in Canada, where our provinces are larger and further apart, I don't think a lot of fisherman would be willing to pack up and drive two provinces away. However, if I decided to visit someone in NewFoudnland or Quebec, I can see this system working well...Now, if they would only sell your fishing/hunting licence together on one piece of paper for the whole year, that I would do...
Richard I agree a fish'n/hunting license would be a grand idea even if it was only for individual provinces. What I don't understand is the Salmon license??? Its a federal license but only for 1 province!! It would be great if we could buy a license and 4-8 tags and use it in any province or a C&R license which NS still doesn't have!!

I am pretty sure New Brunswick has a C&R license. Thats what I bought the last few times I fished up there.

The trouble here in Canada is the guide situation.
In N.S. for a non resident no guide requiured.
Fishers from N.B. and Newfoundland fish our rivers in the fall.
In N.B. for a non resident guide required for salmon.
In Newfoundland for a non resident quide required for all fishing except non scheduled rivrs within 1000 yards of TCH for trout..
Personally I think a regional license would be great but would require reciprocal non quide requirements.

Leo...The catch and release licence you are refering to in NB is for Non Residents. If I am wrong, then please forgive me and I am sure Bill can set us straight. I purchased my licence and it covers all species in our waters and some rivers is just catch and release, while some you can keep only grilse...
Mike, I just checked my lecence and it's a provincial licence. Salmon angling has the concern of all around the world and DFO which is federal has jurisdiction on enforcing the law. Just like our RCMP working our Rural areas of the city...But I like your idea of being able to fish in Nova Scotia and using a tag if I wanted to because Atlantic Salmon roam free...

Richard I know the NS salmon license is a provincial license and that was exactly my point. Atlantic Salmon are regulated at the federal level so why not a federal license?? 
Maybe our resident former DFO guy can shed some light on why the licenses are provincial? Stephen 
Sorry for the misunderstanding Mike...It's a nice concept, but how do most fisherman/hunters feel when outsiders fish and hunt our native lands...That's probably the only stip I can see...So, by buying a non res licence is probably the only way to go...I know having a guide is a great idea when fishing/hunting unstrange territory, I don't think it sould be mandatory...
On another note, I saw a Hunting/Fishing manual 70 years old yesterday. I didn't have time to go through the book, but it was five bucks to buy your licence...Also, the same guy had an autographed picture of Lee Wolf and his wife Joan. My buddy was there travel companions when they visited years ago...Legend has it, Joan held the record for longest distance at fly casting...
On another site I found this link: National Fishing License. Go to the link and tell me what you think. Personnally I think it would be great if they can make it work as outlined in the article. But as one person stated on that other site a regional license would be better (Ex. New England License). Any and all comments welcome on this subject.
